Getting ready for combat…

Big up to Adam, Mel and Doug at the Flud Watches empire. The new Flud BPM watch is killing shit.

Look at Adam acting like he is doing work. You almost believe him because of his watch.

Flud granted me a few more pieces from their current roster for me to give away to DPdotcommenters so look out for a contest or some other sexy shit.

Flud is the first official sponsor of the Combat Jack Show BYOB BBQ. Salutes for that.

This was one of my favorite Combat Jack Show podcasts evar. Deric D.Dot Angiletti is one of the architects to the soundtrack of my life. His discography is bananas and he is still creating new shit.

The Combat Jack Show is crossing the threshold to becoming that shit you can not afford to miss. I’ll definitely be there.

The Source presents Ghetto Metal…

ghetto metal

When the homey Combat Jack told me he was joining the Source mag staff I thought it was the perfect sign that the magazine might return to its roots describing the essence of the culture. The underground arts movements that breathe life into rap and Hip-Hop on the daily is what needs to be documented and highlighted.

I think the Source is doing a great job in presenting these music showcases along with Bazaar Royale. Established rap acts and underground punk rock bands all share the same stage throughout the night.

ghetto metal

From Maino to BeastMode to Burnt Sugar to Game Rebellion. It’s all part of the culture.

Fux around and you can even get a FREE tattoo applied to your arm in the green room.

Dr. Cornell West was in the building doing his half a preacher rabble rouser routine. Dr. West should host every rap show from now on.

The Source mag is winning again with Ghetto Metal.

Mugshot Hairstyle Models…

Rodney King is still making mugshots after twenty years of infamy and notoriety. Salute this man for his determined hardbody consistency.

Okay, not really.

Roger Clemens can reclaim his mugshot photos from the U.S. Marshal’s office after his perjury case was ruled a mistrial by the presiding judge.

Gospel Music…

The Doppelgangaz crew is on the come up. I wasn’t really fuxing with these kids at first because they seemed to rappity rap and earnest on some 2011 Tribe Called Quest shit. In the meantime the Doppelgangaz kept working on their craft by refining it and expanding their soundscape.

Then all of a sudden I heard the track ‘Doppel Gospel’ and I had to take a second listen. Out of literally nowhere the Doppelgangaz were on my rap radar. Then I watched them open for SlaughterHouse at the Highline Ballroom Shady Records party. They entered the stage wearing black cloaks and Jordans. The Doppelgangaz didn’t give a fux. I FUX with that.

I’m gifting you a few tracks from their recent album project ‘Lone Sharks’. The Doppelgangaz are dropping some real jazzy rap music. Shit is sophisticated beyond their age (21). This production goes off the beaten path for most of the shit that people are playing today. Their production reminds me somewhat of Tommy Mas beats on the Action Bronson ‘Dr.Lechter’ CD.

Left of center is good for rap music, at least as far as my earholes are concerned.

‘Suppository’

‘Suppository’ is another one of the DPGZ subversive rap bangers.

‘Like What Like Me’

‘Like What Like Me’ was the track that made me finally reach out to the Doppelgangaz and demand a copy of this ‘Lone Sharks’ project. Those drums are simple and brilliant. The video for this track is also banana bread genius.

My new favorite track from the CD is ‘At Night’. THIS is that Tribe vibe I was talking about. I need me a Volkswagen Karman Ghia convertible so I can bang this joint on the way out to Jones Beach.
