Wu-Tang Is 4 EVER!

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Listening to Odd Future makes me want to hear some shit with sick lyrics and masterful musical soundscapes. Enter The 36 Chambers never gets old for me. Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Return to the 36 might be my favorite Wu album of all time.

O.D.B. was such a special artist because he was strong enough to be vulnerable. Smart enough to act stupid. And pure enough to be dirty. Add the Raekwon featuring Ghostface Killah epic OB4CL and you have possibly the holy trinity of NYC rap.

I loved reading this book written by the homey Alvin Blanco (@Aqua174) because it’s a chronological history of Hip-Hop’s most groundbreaking and futuristic collective. You get to learn about the backstories behind all of the group’s legendary discography

The book is written from years of exhaustive research to speak directly from the voices of the Wu-Tang members. If you don’t mind being called a Wu-Tang stan then you won’t mind this collection of quotes and footnotes detailing RZA and the group’s history since the early days of Prince Rakeem and the Genius.

If books are the new millennium CD’s then The Wu-Tang Clan and The RZA is definitely a platinum plaque for your bookshelf.

The Heat Is On… Hollywood

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

The Heat’s ‘Big Three’ is some more showtime shit engineered by Pat Riley.

But do they play the physical defense like the Riley era Knicks?

Do they inspire a city by their work ethic or their tennis shoes?

Nope, the Miami Heat are Hollywood.

Just Ask Dontrevius Wenters.

L.R.G. R.I.P.

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

The co-founder and the creative vision for the L.R.G. clothing line passed away yesterday.

I actually met dude at a party in the Jeff Staple store Reed Space. Any of you still have the LRG etched Courvosier cognac glasses that I mailed out please give up a prayer for Jonas Bevacqua.

Jonas was cool and humble and talked about the inspiration that Polo Ralph Lauren gave him as a kid coming up. When he got the chance to create his own line of gear he flipped a design out of respect to the lifestyle.

I caught that piece pictured above at AJ Wright for mere pennies and eBayed it for a princely sum. You have to really respect the P.R.L. line he was shouting out. 1992 was one of the greatest years in the lifestyle.

Bill Sienkewicz is the GOAT comic cover artist

Don’t ask me how I got into a TWitter conversation with Sean Price about Dazzler?!? Ruck is on his comicbook steez even harder than his sneaker fiending.

If I was writing a Dazzler movie I would cast Blake Lively as Dazzler.

She has a pretty mouf.

In this Dazzler movie her superpower is to blow a nigga’s mind.

Literally.

SNEAKER FRIENDS UNITE!

DJ Greg Street is hosting his annual sneaker head gathering in Atlanta. This is something NOT to be missed if you like in the A.

As a matter of fact, this is something you don’t want to miss wherever you are from. The Shoe Game will be in the building hardbody, as of course Greg Street’s ATF brethren – Clark Kent, Mayor, ALL DAY, and Dave Jeff. SneakerTUBE.tv’s Premium Pete is even making the trip to the A.

Rightfully so as well because Greg Street is one of the game’s number one collector curators. Just take a look at some of his kicks…
