SNEAKER FIENDS UNITE!

Editor’s note: SFU goes in from the land down under once again. DJ Pinky brings us his adventures as a sneaker fiend visiting Melbourne to satisfy his soul in his quest for rubber soles.

Ah, it’s Saturday morning (I DJ’d the club last night and got home @ 6am) and I woke up to my son whispering to me to wake up… So it’s 11am and I got stuff all sleep and my fiance(who is 20 odd weeks pregnent with our daughter) had a restless night as she does every night, but cos she love me and understands my obsession for sneakers we headed up to Melbourne to the Niketown factory sale. Turns out there was a sale on top of a sale and a massive line like they were lining up for concert tickets.

So we waited in line and found out they had 40% off the already reduced sale price…HOLY SHIT!. (explains the line) We only had to line up for like 15 min or so which was not bad, we got into the “NIKE MAD HOUSE” and went straight to the kicks and yeah I picked up a couple of pairs, but these ones are the best I think, they’re AF1 supreme max air, the colourway is crazy cool, fluro with the grey/chrome and they have some printing on the inner sole(AF1-25, AF1-20, 5-AF1)

So a couple of weeks after that trip up to NIKETOWN we headed up to Melbourne again for a birthday lunch and I had heard that Niketown was having a sale (40% again) on their back wall kicks (the stock that there is only a couple of pairs left or weird sizes and shit) and I remembered from last time I was there that there were a couple of of pairs I wanted so I had to go check them out…

Aahhh this time I found one pair on the back wall and one pair on the samples shelf. I got this sweet pair of Dunks – Year of the pig, pink on pink on pink (pink is punk) for $70AUS and also these Sky force Mid’s (i dubbed them silver surfers) from the sample shelf they were $40AUS…

Sneaker Pr0n With GABEROCKKA

You should already know our homey GABEROCKKA from the Flawless Hustle family. GABE goes in hard [ll] when it comes to the sneakers and streetwear that is driving these internets nuts. Peep this drop GABE did describing all the Nike SB shoes that have been scrapped before production.

GABE just sent me a few photos of some joints he was bumping on the eBay system. I laughed to myself because this is what I used to do when I found pr0n pics that I liked. I would send them to all friends too. Let’s take a look at the curves on these ladies and tell me if this isn’t something like looking through the lens at a softcore photo shoot.

The safety orange accents and the contrast stitching murdered it those AM90’s. I likes the buffalo print leather all around. Even the blacked out swoosh added flavor because you almost didn’t know if you were looking at a sneaker or a trail running shoe.

NIKEiD Air Max ’97
Another iD shoe with a rare material on the upper. The snakeskin print around the mudguard is sick. These joints are more of a museum piece in my opinion. Very simple colorways and coordination is how GABE likes to keep his designs, whereas I might try to get every possible color in the palette on a pair of my shoes. These 97’s are definitely living the ‘Trife Life’.

At the NIKETOWN holiday party they were offering a 20% off coupon along with a party ticket that was good for $25 off your receipt.

I must have been on that purple pill because I copped these ACG Wildwood Supremes.

After the NIKE party I motivated downtown to hang out with PETE from Premium Laces NY and my homey PaperChasr from Obsessive Sneaker Disorder. This was the heavyweights from the sneaker game popoff. SB.org was in the building. CHRIS V. from Flight Club NY and even your boy IZ from 255/21 Mercer. Crazy.

PARTY MONSTER!

Here’s all you need to know about me… I would rather nerd out than freak out. I have done both. Nerding out is more rewarding for me and less embarrassing, which is a reward in itself. Nerding out is comfortable and calm, even when the scene appears chaotic.

I left my day job too late to do everything on my “Wednesday is the new Fr’aturday” list. No Vibe Mag JAMIE FOXX party and no beer pong with B Real from Cypress Hills. I need to apologize to NoHa from DuckDown for holding me down on that joint. Yo Noha, the next event you have (preferably with Sean P or Kidz-N-The Hall) is all me fam.

I did make it to Niketown for their Playmakers holiday event. The party was hosted by Miss Info who is always on some fresh to def shit. I peeped the 18k gold cap she had on her pre-molar tooth. That shit is so classic ‘hood that 99% of the people don’t even know what they are looking at. I know though, because I am an old motherfucker. I’m just thankful that these young kids on the scene fucks with me.

The kids still fucks with Clark Kent too and that is because he has more kicks than they will ever own. Clark gives away more sneakers than they will ever own. I fucks with Clark too even though he can be a little like Ernie P sometimes when he is discussing some shit he doesn’t fucks with too tough. Clark don’t like these blogs too much and I can’t blame him since most bloggers never come up from their parent’s basements.

I came up from my parent’s basement though and I hung the fuck out. Peace to 40 Diesel from Mighty Healthy. Peace to Joey2fresh who was taking pictures all over the place. Shout to the homey J-Rod as well as DJ Ko who goes in to all the fly shit. Do y’all want some more? Okayplayer holiday party 2nite featuring the Roots and friends.
