DP.com Free Shit: SONNY CHIBA DVDs

You didn’t think I was gonna let the holiday season roll thru DP.com without me blessing the folks that catch my Saturday drops? I have mad respect for those that peep game from their desk jobs, but for those of you that come thru on the strength… I love y’all [ll].

Let’s give away some Sonny Chiba Samurai series DVDs that I copped from Pathmark. Sonny Chiba might be the greatest martial arts actor of all time. From kung fu movies to 1970s action films to feudal period Japanese joints Sonny Chiba has done them all. Not even the great Bruce Lee has as diverse an ouevre as Chiba.

I have two(2) copies of ‘Sonny Chiba Samurai’ which is actually a three(3) film disk for the first two people that can tell the name of Christian Slater’s character who was obsessed with Sonny Chiba from the Tarantino action film ‘True Romance’, and the subsequent Tarantino film that Sonny Chiba would later star in.

It wouldn’t be a holiday season without some DP.com Free Shit.

Illmatic Cinematic…

HIMANSHU from Das Racist put me on to this film one day when we were talking about growing up in Queens. The film is called ‘Chop Shop’ and it is filmed almost entirely in the Willets Point Blvd junkyards that are on the outskirts of Corona.

The story is about an orphan who lives in the yards all the while trying to make a better life for himself and his sister. The story is tight and it feels so real to me. Shea Stadium exists as a character in the movie due to it being a part of the constant background.

The truth is the story is that impoverished kids have a single chance to make it up from the bottom and if they don’t use that time well they may be lost forever. That isn’t the message of the movie though but it is still so colorful and compelling I recommend it to you.

Michael Jackson’s death saved the US economy more than any stimulus package could. MJ’s death created jobs and got people back to work selling posters, calendars and all sorts of MJ memoribilia. It was the equivalent of the WPA from the entertainment industry.

All OBAAMA needs now is for Madonna, Barbara Streisand and Bruce Springsteen to die in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively and he will be re-elected for sure. I wonder if more dead celebrities would be enough incentive to push the healthcare bill through?

Toy Story: Star Wars – The Fett Legacy

I have been going in hardbody on mty action figure steez ever since the TJX family of retailers has been coming up on them. I’m not too fond of the latest generations of Star Wars and G.I.Joe figures because of their pune design but when I saw this three pack called ‘Star Wars Evolutions: The Fett Legacy’ I had to copp.

Boba Fett was only like most prA’li the second most badass guy in the universe. How many other people were unafraid to give Darth Vader backtalk? Boba Fett was all like, “Captain Solo is worth a lot to me buddy.”. And then Vader told him he’d get his paper whether Solo lived the carbonization process or not. Fux it, I’m watching Ep.5 tonight.

Mattel also gives up Boba Fett’s dad, Jango Fett in the pack as well as this super badass Force legacy character named Mandalore the Indomitable. This dude is supposed to be character that all the Mandalorian bounty hunters sprung up from.

I admit that I don’t have the Force legacy shit down pat like that but I do know that the Fetts wear Mandalorian armor and you have to be extra hardbody to own that shit. It’s the equivalent of rocking a dookey rope walking around Albee Square Mall in 1985.

True Star Wars junkies like myself appreciate the attention to detail and articulation that these figures have. I just wish their scale was a bit larger. I saw several other legacy packs that featured characters from the days of the Old Republic. I might have to copp the Clone legacy pack if I see that joint floating around.

You already know I copped two(2) of the Fett legacy packs. Someone just needs to give me a reason to send it to them.
