Maffew’s video to ‘City Of God’ uses Brownsville, J’Ouvert and the West Indian Day Parade as the backdrop. Brooklyn is definitely still ghetto red hot.

Who would put on Mount Rapmore?

I just wanted to revisit this Smif-n-Wessun x Pete Rock joint since it’s one of those rap songs you can use to put on your daily armor before you deal with the world.

Have a good week Internets and just keep in mind that once you’ve defeated Monday they can’t throw another one at you until next week.

DuckDown Was Built For The Long Run…

Friday, September 16th, 2011

duckdown

Do you ever stop to think about how long the label DuckDown has been delivering Hip-Hop music as an independent music company? No one else has lasted as long or been as influential to the genre of music. Part of the reason is that the artists on the label have the strength of character to reinvent themselves to the changes in their audience while staying true to who they are as people.

The other reason is that DuckDown understands that the role of the artist is that of marathon runner and not pop music sprinter. DuckDown was built to run marathons from the way they have remained relevant in the music business and their CEO will do just that this November. Dru Ha will participate in the NYC Marathon to raise money for Alzeimer’s research while paying tribute to his father who was afflicted with the disease.

I’m honored that Dru Ha came to Sean Price and myself to help him focus on the training for this grueling event. As you might imagine Sean Price and I have somewhat unorthodox training techniques but I think we gve Dru the encouragement he will need to finish the event. 26.2 miles is pretty much running to the corner store 5000x. Once you break it down that way it all seems so simple.
