There’s No ‘D’ In D’Antoni…

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Peep Carmelo’s expression. A portrait of befuddlement.

From Leandro Barbosa in Toronto to Boris Diaw, now with the Charlotte club, we are watching Mike D’Antoni’s former charges from the desert leave him high and dry as the Knicks coach. The countdown to his coaching tenure is ringing like an alarm clock and the Knicks management dare not hit the snooze button again.

The team was summarily smoked by the Charlotte Bobcats on the MSG floor lastnite. It wouldn’t have felt as bad had I watched the contest on television so that maybe the Garden crowd’s discontent might could have been filtered away from my ears. Instead I sat in the stands courtesy of some generous Swedish internets.

“We Want Shumpert! We Want Shumpert!”

When this cheer broke out late in the 3rd quarter you could understand the desperation of the MSG attendees for something, anything, yet still nothing came forward. The Knicks were uninspired to play and maybe that is even wishful thinking. Maybe these Knicks are incapable of playing at a middling mediocre level?

There were sloppy turnovers and far too many three point shots. Amar’e had too many three point shot attempts by himself. Shots seemingly thrown at the rim on a line with no arc or rotation and then long rebounds leading to Bobcat breaks which no one was particularly interested in defending. Who are THESE Knicks?

These Knicks are Mike D’Antoni’s creation of a longshot to contend in the East. And of late the longshot has looked like NO SHOT. Under 35% from downtown and less than 10 foul shots from your superstar battery will doom any team. So I’m not saying we should change D’Antoni because the teams shots have been clanging off the rim.

We should remove D’Antoni because these Knicks don’t respect the value of being a good defensive team. This is OUR legacy as a basketball team. Not Showtime or Run-n-Gun basketball. For disrespecting the everlasting heritage of the New Yorks Knicks defense Mike D’Antoni must go.

St. John’s Takes Big Step in Rebuilding Process

Syracuse is ranked #1 in the nation, but the big Big East story is the return of the Redmen, er, Red Storm. Thanks to a local recruit from the same neighborhood as Sean Bell and Fifty Cent. Maurice Harkless is bringing back that Red fever.

In his Big East debut, Harkless set the frosh scoring mark with 32 points. But that wasn’t all…

Harkless had a phenomenal line in the box score, making 14 of 17 field-goal attempts, including 2 of 3 from three-point range, and adding 13 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocked shots.

Harkless went innnnnnnn [ll].

Tournament time is gonna be exciting again for all of us Big East fans.
Word to Chris Mullin.

Knickerbockers Back…

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

Your favorite almost NY Knickerbocker, Dontrevius Wenters, has an extra ticket to the Knicks blue and orange scrimmage at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

Dontrevius thinks he was invited to the scrimmage to tryout for the hometeam.

Now that the NBA lockout is over will Dontrevius finally make his way in?

The New York Knicks have a new look and in their quest for an NBA ‘Chip (championship) they also have a new brand of potato chips.

Move over Utz, the Knicks are going for the gold, Yukon Gold.

The New York Knicks are undefeated.

Sure its the pre-season, but we can all hope can’t we?

Dontrevius Wenters walks the hallowed halls of Madison Square Garden to talk to Knicks fans about their hopes for this season.

And his chances for finally playing for the Knicks.

NBA BACK!

Sunday, November 27th, 2011

The cast is back to give us another season of the drama.

Will Dallas defend their title all the way to a repeat? Will Miami break thru to the promised land and give King James some credibility? Let’s not forget about Darth Kobe either.

Sure the owners put the players further under their thumb, but this is America and that is how we roll. Billionaires over millionaires.

Now on to important business…

All Day I Dream About SlamDunks…

The labor negotiations for the NBA have turned into the pissing contest you knew it would become between the owners and players. I hope the players union can hold tight this time and not cave in like they did during the 1999 lockout fiasco.

In the meantime I’m gonna rock these MVP class Derrick Rose signature shoes I just got from adidas. The adiZero Rose.2s are super lightweight and comfortable without sacrificing any materials quality. The shoe reminds me in some respects of a boxing shoe for how it wraps the foot securely.

Don’t take my word for it tho’ and go out and touch a pair of the adiZero Rose.2 to feel what I’m telling you might be the next great basketball shoe. I can’t wait to see what Derrick Rose does in these kicks this season. The tagline for these shoes is ‘ALL FLIGHTS CANCELLED’ #shotsfired! LOL
