Internets! I’ve just joined the ranks of famous magical negroes by having a Tumblr page titled ‘Magic Negro World‘.
So for the page is simply revisiting my past YouTube triumphs, but I’ll eventually kill this blogsite and move all my operations to the simple ease of the Tumblr feed.
Less writing for me. Less reading for you. More magic for all. Amen.
NYC’s underground leaders, Shaz IllYork and Maffew Ragazino, posted this clip last week and I hadn’t gotten around to viewing it until today. Shaz Illyork is interesting because he fully understands the visual medium which today’s music occupies as he attempts to create treatments for all the songs he releases.
Shaz is gonna pop off one of these days and I will just be happy to say that I’m from Queens too.
I think this is a first for me on video where I not only have several different styles of shoes featured but also from several different manufacturers.
I’m showing adidas Rod Lavers, the Reebok Insta-Pump Fury x Mita collaboration, Nike volleyball Air Trainers and my OG grail Air Tech Challenge 3/4s. I’m all over the place, but at the end of the day its all about copping what you like and being true to your style.
I finally listened to a Kendrick Lamar song today. Yep, my first Kendrick Lamar listen and I found homeboy to be quite nice. I couldn’t tell the difference between he or Dr.Dre but to be honest they both sounded slick. This track is called ‘The Recipe’.
Kendrick Lamar featuring Dr.Dre – ‘The Recipe’
I got these Kendrick Lamar YouTube links from Hip-Hop Is Read and Know The Ledge. Now I’m wearing a Kendrick Lamar late pass while I listen his Section 80 album. Damn, this boy good…
I can’t even stress enough how much I appreciate Reebok for giving me the opportunity to host an event at their space off Delancey Street. This night was like a homecoming for me. I was back on Delancey Street where my sneaker fiending first began more than 25 years ago.
Classic.
Salutes to Combat Jack and the whole crew from the Combat Jack Show who fell thru the event to support the kid. All my dudes held me down hardbody tho’. Premium, Solace, Aqua, ‘Naud, Dave, Jayson, Hobbs, J.Nicholson, Billy Anthony, Chad Wells…
Everybody!
Thanks to Cole for being my intern. DallasPenn.com never had an intern before. We still don’t know what to do with our intern, but we gonna put her to work. It ain’t gonna be free kicks every time Cole. LOL.
Big up to Sean Malcolm aka DJ Profile from King Magazine who came thru and held down the sound system hardbody.
Esso and his band Beatsro rocked the gallery with a mini set. Basquiat’s spirit was definitely in the air.
