Say No 2 Camouflage…
Tuesday, April 24th, 2012RTW = Rolling Thunder Writers
Monday, April 23rd, 2012RTW was one of my favorite writing crews from the 1980s. These dudes crushed the IND lines I rode every morning to Brooklyn Tech HS. I always wondered how these dudes had the stamina to cover entire trains (8 cars) with top to bottom throwies.
I’m thankful that the homey T-Bag sent me this link to a gallery exhibit featuring RTW. I think it’d be dope to meet these cats who ruled the tunnels underground and were the superheroes of my youth

Tales Of RTW
05.04.2012 – 06.01.2012
The first gallery show ever as a group, The Rolling Thunder Writers of NYC Subway Graffiti fame. One of the most prolific, heavy-hitting graffiti crews in the history of graffiti art. RTW covered the period from 1976 well into the end of subway graffiti in the 1990’s. Known from their very psychedelic origins… from central parks band shell to the one tunnel…. Where hippie meets Hip-Hop, the funk gets stronger! And beyonder!
Opening 6-8pm May 4, 2012
Action Bronson: A Simple Man
Monday, April 23rd, 2012Gotye: Somebody That I Used To Know
Sunday, April 22nd, 2012I haven’t been able to turn this Gotye song off in my brain for the past month. It sounds like Sting and Enya yelling at each other.
It’s not the lyrics but the beat that I love so much. And the hook just makes me feel like this would be the dopest ‘Grown Man Rap’ breakup song.
So here’s the plan… I reach out to Sean Price, Dice Raw and Black Thought’s people (all via TWitter) and ask them all to fux with the instrumental version.
The second part of my fiendish rap plan is to get Rah Digga in the middle of this ‘Grown Man Rap’ track. This shit is about to be cataclysmic. Just imagine for a second, Sean Price, Dice Raw, Rah Digga and Black Thought on this joint. Yeah, you just creamed yourself [ll]. I did too.
*Burnout Update*
Internets, this is why you should NOT do drugs. I BEEN listening to this track since Dice Raw smashed it way back in January as his ‘Game Of Thrones’ freestyle. Duhhhh!
A Night At The Museum…
Sunday, April 8th, 2012The Brooklyn Museum of Art may have reached critical mass for their First Saturday events. This was the first time I can remember the doors being closed even before the dance party had started. What is this place gonna look like during the summer?
I met up with one of the producers from the Put This On web series and he was impressed with the number of people at the event and how many folks had come thru in their fanciest wares. I wasn’t going to overdo it on this evening because I fully expected to dance my ass off to deejay Junior Vasquez house mix, but the high heels were definitely up in the building.
The flash never lies as you can see I spilled something on my shirt. The trick to enjoying yourself at the museum is to bring yourself a flask or some sort of stowaway beverage because the line at the bar stay on bananas.
Call me a bird ass museum-goer since I didn’t even walk thru the Haring show. LOL. I’m actually having a small dinner party in May and I’ll be walking the exhibit then. I’ll prA’li have on another pair of Reeboks too. These kicks are so comfortable they are the perfect antidote for museum marble tile floors.
