MarqSpekt x Kno = MACHETEVISION…

Friday, October 28th, 2011

When I think of the homey MarQ’Spekt he is kind of similar in spirit cloth to Timeless Truth and Meyhem Lauren. I met this cat and politicked with him about EVERYTHING except rap. We discussed Hip-Hop but he didn’t allude to being a veteran participant. Knowing everything I know now about ‘Spekt makes it easy and fun to post drops with his music.

MacheteVision is a project he has been cooking up for a minute. ‘Spekt took his time in building this joint to make it a testament to the Hip-Hop he grew up listening to and still believes in. Each one, teach one. Lyrical mastery. features with artists of like mind. No Hollywood. ‘Spekt has the entire album available for FREE streaming and I hope you support him after you enjoy some of this heat.

Bonus Rap Bangers: The Main Event…

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

How about a verse from Meyhem Lauren, Action Bronson, Maffew Ragazino AND Rasheed Chappell?

Produced by the Brown Bag All-Stars, J57, here you have ‘The Main Event’. Let the keys roll over your mind on some Bob James sample shit. This is a classic NYC soundscape for spitters and head nodders.

College Music Journal Gets XXL…

Monday, October 24th, 2011

The College Music Journal is a fucking marathon event held in New York City to present new music and filmmakers to a broader audience. I suppose its NYC’s version of South by SouthWest. Concerts are smashed out with a dozen or more performances every night. I stopped fucking with CMJ because I was getting wack rap fatigue. That shit is worse than diabetes.

My homies, the Outdoorsmen, have been on a recent tear thru NYC. Meyhem Lauren at Webster Hall was crazy. Action Bronson all over New York City has been bananas. Action Bronson and his Outdoorsmen comrades KILLED at SOBs but the crowd had dwindled to only a handful of people since they got their mics at 3am.

The scene at the Highline Ballroom was a bit different tho’. XXL Magazine had the building packed to the rafters. Instead of headlining this show Action Bronson was opening for Kid Ink, French Montana and M.G.K. otherwise known as Machine Gun Kelly.

Rap music is still being saved by white people. In the crowd and on the mic.

NO SMILING…

Friday, October 21st, 2011

My boy Gudtyme gave me this lesson for the industry many years ago. There will be NO SMILING in the VIP section. It has to suck to work in an industry where you have to be fake in order to move up.

MarqSpekt isn’t likely to put on a fake face in order to move around in the rap game. That’s why you better listen up because who knows how long he’ll tolerate the bullshit. Here’s another track from his project with Kno from Cunnylinguists.
