Ernie P is a big fan of DP.com and one of the most understated historians of my lifetime. Is it because he has faithfully documented Hip-Hop history, as opposed to rock music or jazz? Is it because he has lived a life of talking truth to power? Is it because Ernie can be a surly curmudgeon when he senses a lack of sincerity in others?
The answer is all of the above.
I’m lucky ro call Ernie my friend even tho’ he will spit flames in my comments section over my sneaker collection or my appreciation of the 808s & Heartbreak album. Notwithstanding, Ernie Paniccioli has dedicated a lifetime to documenting the American experience for all peoples of color no matter their level of celebrity or notoriety.
I say all of this because I would like you to consider Ernie’s art if you have a few coins available to you. Ernie has several photobooks self-published on Lulu.com and I promise you they are the best history lesson you can receive on Hip-Hop.
