MacheteVision: WikiLeaks

Saturday, May 26th, 2012

MarQ Spekt x Kno turn in an offical visual treatment to one of the hardest tracks on their collaborative project – ‘MacheteVision’.

‘Spekt always had that dystopian rap flow on smash. The look of this video conveys that conspiracy paranoia. Hey, I’m not paranoid just because everyone is trying to kill me!

R.A.P. Music Saviors…

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

Killer Mike is one of the few Hip-Hop artists who hasn’t become dismayed with the rap listeners despite the shift in the music industry’s support for his type of underground rap soundtrack. That’s prA’li because Killer Mike has the attitude of perspective of the traveling griot who would go anywhere to deliver a parable to the people. Killer Mike is more prophet than profit.

Killer Mike’s latest CD ‘R.A.P. Music’ comes to us with no fanfare or propmotion. If you know what’s good for you then you know it’s out here. I had to post this track with Bun B and T.I. because it is so damn hard. Plus Bun B merc’ks that shit by putting ‘onomatopoeia’ in his verse. Who does that in rap music in 2012?

Killer Mike feat. Bun B, T.I. and Trouble – ‘Big Beast’

Killer Mike’s album was produced entirely by the incomparable El-P, who himself is dropping a brand new project called ‘Cancer 4 Cure‘. It sounds like El-P’s studio is the nexus for the hottest underground rap music dropping post-2010.

I didn’t start fuxing with El-P until I heard him rap on the Das Racist album ‘Relax’. Ain’t that some shit how I came to listen to this legendary producer and emcee from left field rap? That’s how it be sometimes tho’. You ain’t late as long as you get there.

“to the mother of my enemy, i just killed your son
he died with his face to the sky and it can not be undone
he didn’t die hard, in the end he just grinned and bowed
made him dig his own grave at the point of a gun while he laughed to the gods out loud”

Rest In Power Chuck Brown…

Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go music has returned to the essence, but not before giving us some of the funkiest grooves we ever heard.

The beat shall never stop…

Inner City Blues…

Ev4n Holt gives his paean request for deliverance from the demons of poverty over a Mobb Deep soundscape in front of a NYCHA (New York City Housing Authority) landscape.

I dig the blue filters on this visual.

‘Mega x Action x Roc x Saigon = M.A.R.S.

Just don’t call these dudes a rap supergroup. I thought to call them rap’s Defenders (a group most comic heads slept on except maybe the ‘purists’) but Roc Marci let me know they weren’t becoming a group.

Large Professor (Dr. Strange?) put this concoction together and this is the outcome.
