The Mets Need The Wright Stuff…

Monday, October 4th, 2010

wright

I was fortunate enough to catch the final game of another mediocre Mets season via a hookup from the league. I’m still a fan of the game despite the fact that greedy owners hold communities hostage with their ransom demands on taxpayers and I’m still a Mets fan despite the fact the team is comprised of the lower tier of players.

For this episode we have a special guest director – Isaiah. He’s my nephew. He lives in Corona Queens, the neighborhood where my brother and I grew up. Truth be told is that Isaiah enjoyed toy shopping at A.J.Wright more than the ballgame. I can’t say I blame him either. Mets lost 2-1 in 14 innings. They were held in check by the ageless Livan Hernandez.

Next year begins now for the Mets. Can we trade David Wright and Jose Reyes in a package deal?

That will be one question out of many for the new general manager to answer.

wiley BMA

The Brooklyn Museum of Art 1st Saturdays is Black Beautality.

Brutally beautiful things to look at and even some really nice pieces of art.

Do me a favor and fall thru Ms.Officer’s weblog. She is a Brooklyn hottie that has been bigging up DP.com since way back. Plus, she rolls thick with snowflake action.

workers rally

I went to D.C. this weekend to rally for the rights of the American worker. Not just the rank and file of unionized folks which I am a part of, but the non-union and even undocumented peoples who all combine to help give us a quality of life unlike any other place on this Earth.

What I have come to learn about Americans is that we are all strange and somewhat selfish in our particular ways. There are pundits and politicians who hold rallies designed to break the backs of unions. Without these unions many of us would be without healthcare and retirement benefits. But some of the unions fail to acknowledge the scores of workers who don’t form unions because they lack the leverage with their employer.

The American worker is in crisis. I can’t begin to tell you how much of the manufacturing which occurs in the United States is performed by prison inmates. The only sector which remains for us to work through is the ‘service’ component. We all can’t be waiters and waitresses while others manufacture the goods we consume. Something will have to give sooner than later.

In the meantime, make sure you visit the polls in November and let your voice be heard that you support ALL workers in America.

FANBOYZ UNITE!: Meet Stan Lee

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

s.m.

The Animazing Gallery in SoHo is where fanboys unite. I met one of my heroes there for a book signing. Ralph Bakshi, the creator of Fritz the Cat and my favorite Blaxploitation film of all time ‘Coonskin’ (aka ‘Streetfight’).

Next weekend the godfather of the comicbook game, Stan Lee, will be at the gallery. Stan Lee is a living legend who along with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko revolutionized the pulp fiction universe of comic books. RSVP@animazing.com

Animazing will also be of the hook later in the month when Neal Adams stops by to preview his new Batman comic.

Sean Price Is Top Rank…

sean price

I haven’t gotten up with Sean Price for a minute which means the hardest working rapper in Hip-Hop must have hundreds of projects already completed during the interim.

We linked up last nite at a studio session with the infamous Queens crew Timeless Truth. Solace a/k/a ‘Henny Blanco’ and his brother O-Prime, the Barry Larkin of the rap game, are closing the loop on their debut album as well as a highly anticipated mixtape titled ‘Rockit Science’.

The last quarter of the year is going to be filled with dope rhymes and hard beats from all of these brothers. Sean P let us preview some verses from his various projects. The internets ain’t ready for this dude. The world ain’t ready. No sheila.

Get excited for the Random Axe album. That shit will be bananas.

Mic Tyson is being nailed down after P links with Alchemist in a few weeks.

Heltah Skeltah and so on

Peep this dope visualization from Germany. Sean Price goes top ranking. Who is the nicest rapper in Brownsville? You already know… P!
