Enter the Wu-Tang Slipper…

^ One of the most sonically influential albums in rap history…

The discussion we had the other day regarding sampling was official. RZA may have been the last producer to go mainstream with densely layered sample production. The music industry may need to look inward to their lawyers who stymied sound development and production as the ones who killed the music business.

As for this Wu-Tang chinese slipper…

I’ma need to copp the Game of Death tracksuit to match up hardbody. Kill me if I do.

Copyright Criminals…

I always said that lawyers ruined the soundscape for Hip-Hop music. The concepts that the Bomb Squad created would never have been possible in the current attorney pwned music business. Don’t take my words for it tho’.

Peep this documentary called ‘Copyright Criminals’…

Now I see why the mixtape game is so prevalent now. Who could afford to clear a sample?

Marshall’s: Home Of The S.F.U. Come Ups…

As the S.F.U. midwestern chairman explained to us earlier, when you are in the presence of a comeup… You. Must. Copp. You must do it for all the SFU representatives across the globe. For your SFU brothers and sisters in Australia. For the SFU reps in the great Canadian region. even for SFU noobs in your own neighborhood. We do this for them.

During a cruise thru one of the many Marshall’s stores here in NYC I was fortunate enough to witness a subsequent markdown taking place. These markdowns usually happen during slow periods of store activity. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was cruising for a pair of Air Jordan 2009 in the white colorway since I have already smashed them with the black pairs.

My attention was pointed to a salesperson putting the vaunted ‘yellow’ ticket on sneakers. This is the designation in TJX stores (Marshall’s, TJ Maxx, A.J. Wright) that this item is receiving a final clearance price. These sneakers were getting several yellow tickets placed on them. When I saw what the final price was marked down to I had to copp.

I’m still a snob however and I wouldn’t buy the Under Armor sneakers at any price, but there were some adidas and Nike that fit my high standards. Now I just need to find a little girl to give them to.

The Atlantis Economy…

Once upon a time in America if you owned a home that meant you were firmly part of the ‘middle-class’. While you certainly weren’t wealthy you at least had a source of equity to draw down from in order to secure loans for a new car or to send your children off to college. The middle-class of America is an eroding dream and the ideal of homeownership has become a burden of debt too great for many to bear.

Check out this list of the top 10 cities where mortgages are greater than the value of the homes attached to them.

I’m sad to see Phoenix in the top 5 of that list. I almost relocated to Phoenix after I finished working at the World Trade Center site in 2002. I wanted to get away from the city I had lived in for more than thirty years. I was prA’li a bit depressed too. Working at ground zero was exhilarating at some times and downright devastating every other moment. My dad convinced me to stay in NY and I was able to find an apartment that was in walking distance to their home.

In some ways I’m happy that my dad isn’t around to see the mess they made of the economy. Everything he believed in and worked his ass off to achieve has come undone by the soulless shenanigans of the wealthy and their retinue. I hope the people in Las Vegas, Phoenix and Orlando get their lives back, but that isn’t the way that capitalism works now is it?
