The Lakeshow will have to wait for next season to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy. Especially after reading the headlines that confirm everyone’s suspicions that the Association has been fixing their contests for some time. While DAVID STERN has all of his sportswriting wags further discredit the disgraced referee TIM DONAGHY I feel somewhat vindicated for my JORDAN smears ten years ago. I always felt a kind of way about that Chicago win over Phoenix. And BARKLEY has gambling issues to boot.
Professional sports has become more like “professional” wrestling in their blind struggle for money and ratings. Why wouldn’t the NBA, NFL and MLB fix their contests? Are these corporations above that same Enron fuckery? Look at how many people were dying to put their asses in the baseball stadiums during the 500ft. home run seasons. All the while buying concessions that had retail markups of 300% or greater. At the end of the day the fans got what they deserved.
KOBE is still the best player on the court however, and worth at least the price of a regular season ticket. GOD please save the Knicks.
