This Summer Is Looking Mighty Healthy…

mighty healthy

You know Mighty Healthy is 40 Dawg’s family. Them cats is my peoples too, and maybe one day they might could retro the Albee Square Mall t-shirt, esoecially since the developer is demolishing the building at this very moment.

I fucks with these cats because they represent for true Hip-Hop heads. Mighty Healthy gets down kind of like this website does. They produce shit that you have to examine for the subtext and layered meanings. I know what you’re thinking now, “GTFOH! These dudes are just a t-shirt company!” Yes and no. T-shirts now are first and foremost lifestyle items. They transmit your influence and your state of mind. I find a blank white t-shirt to be the favorite item of people with nothing going on in their brains.

Mighty Healthy studies pop culture on a professorial level. Seriously. That may be the thing that that has stopped them from going nuclear is the fact that they are too smart with their designs. I hope they get a liftoff this summer. With soooo many brands in the streetwear game it is gonna be a dogfight out there (no Michael Vick). I’m rolling with Mighty Healthy. Are you with me?

Same Damn ‘Lo Sweater…

I’m computerless until I get back to Freeport so bear with me party people. It’s 2am and I am sitting on a park bench on Eastern Parkway like the bum I am. Albeit a bum in a cotton RL knit and a crispy pair of Dunk Lo’s that I popped the tag on today.

I just got back to BK from the city and one of the best Obamas so far this season. Courvosier and LRG did it up big, Frank White style. Free food, free swag (prA’li members check your snail mail soon) and free top shelf ‘yac. Courvosier Exclusif. Ha! Niggas should like this shit.

First off, its fucking good. They flavored it with cinnamon and vanilla hints. If you are on some fancy negro thug Hennessy Privilege shit then you need to step your snifter game up.

Niggas like shit that is difficult to pronounce. I can’t say Courvosier properly now because I am fucked the fuck up. I got to turn around quick this morning too and get my day grind popping serious. The folks in my progress meeting better like the smell of sweat, ass and alcohol because those are the scents coming through my pores today. H.A.M.diggy.

Sheeeeeit. If I didn’t have those scents I wouldn’t have any because you know I ain’t got no more sense in my head. Three straight nights of totally free cognac and I may need a liver replacement by Sunday

40Diesel rolled through with the Mighty Healthy crew and after the Obama we hit up another joint. That Estelle song has been my shit for the entire spring. I get my bounce right off that joint. Coordinated bigman steeZo of course.

Depending on how hard I go in for Round 2 tonight I may not see you fools until next week. Bigup to the folks over at the radio show Obsessive Sneaker Disorder(Google that shit since making the code for hyperlinks on a blackberry is insane). I was building with these cats during their last episode and I sort of O.D.’ed. They had to shut my microphone off. Love is love though and they invited me back to promote the upcoming Sneaker Fiends United! NYC tours.

I will go upstairs and catch me some Z’s now that I am confident I won’t be vomiting.

Courvosier: For negroes what knows that classy shit

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn…

The rendering above is of the retrofitted Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Those of you that have grown up in the boro of Kings over the last thirty years should be quite familiar with the older version. Even though I was raised in Corona, I visited this building often because it was located in Mr. PENN’s former ‘hood.

I have enjoyed a pretty fantastic professional career thanks to the architects that schooled me in my post-high school dropout years. I have been able to take a firsthand account of the revitalization of New York City’s greatest immigrant county. More importantly, I have had the opportunity to deliver some of the best architectural projects to the people of the city since the days of the great depression.

I know that my dad and the Old Jew are proud of me. Without their stern lessons, and mostly their love, I would never have made the journey. I have to take a moment to thank AAUM for both of them. For my mind, there is no doubt that they both helped me get through this project. Their steadfast resolve and discipline are the biggest things I think of when the going gets tough.

This past week the ribbon was cut for the grand re-opening of this state of the art cultural science learning center. The Brooklyn Museum of Art has a grand facade made of steel and tempered glass. The Brooklyn Central Public Library has a gorgeous plaza and brand new multi-use auditorium. The Brooklyn Children’s Museum has all of that, AND it is expressly for the children.

Some of the people at the opening gala who have become accustomed to seeing me with a raggedy beard and shiny sneakers were shocked and amazed to see me in my pinstripe suit. I’m sure they all thought that I cleaned up my act to impress the politicians. What I didn’t bother to tell them was that my haircut and suit were donned out of respect for the men that put me in the place that I am.

This was how I thanked them both.
