Love & Loyalty On The Deuce…

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

If you told me twenty yrs ago that I would be friends on a first name basis with Lo-Lifes I would call you crazy. In the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn there had been so much blood, sweat and tears spilled over the acquisition of clothing it was senseless. It wasn’t simply the struggle to attain a fresh level of gear, but the real struggle was in keeping that clothing on your back.

The ‘Lo Goose On The Deuce’ event was a celebration of surviving those days and remaining fresh to this day.

That boy Krash made sure he repped the royalty along with the love and the loyalty. Hail Meg!

I fux with the homies ‘Fit right here.

Layers and layers of Artic Challenge I.T.s

AYAK brothers rocked the RLX

Super Bad MC Solace brought the sickest accoutrement with him. His lady, in the RLX parka. Niiiice.

My goggle swag was on a trillyonnnnnn.

Rack-LO is one of the LO-Life founders

The gathering moved from 42nd Street to the TKTS triangle in Times Square. Circle ski representatives were in full effect.

Now the event was starting. The competition was to see who had the freshest ‘Fit.

The two sickest outfits were worn by Bob-LO and his brother Bek-Live. Bob-LO rocked the official police badge skisuit with a K-Swiss knit underneath. That shit was tougher than leather.

Bek-Live killed it too by popping tags on a Descente outfit. What do you know about Descente? Bek-Live took me all the way back to the Scandinavian Ski Shop days. Bek-Live shut it down by rocking the OG Gucci joints with the red/green laces. This is how you do it.

It was dope to see decades of brotherhood and style combined into one. Next years’ event will be even sicker and larger. Peace to the LO-Lifes, my Decep brothers, the A-Team and ALL the kids who made the Deuce the most exciting and stylish place in New York city.

Outfit Architecture…

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

Yesterday there was an event called ‘Lo Goose On The Deuce’ and it was organized by the Lo-Lifes. I fell thru the celebration with a film crew I had been talking to earlier that day about my Polo obsession (more on that later).

Here’s a look at the ‘fit I built up for the event…

On the bottom are my Foamposite ‘Blackstronauts’. I was talking with a dude on TWitter to help me get the metallic red Foamposites early, but he ended being fugaze. Ski socks were crucial because shit was bricker than a muvv lastnite.

Slightwork with this big pony zip-up with leather elbows and accents. I fux with the invisible ‘ghost’ logo.

Topped off with some goggles and a knit flag cap. Big shout to Dirty Jerz for sending me his goggles. I beat fam in the head for these too. I’m a mess, but Jerz is a generous brother at heart.

The goose was blue label with buttermilk smooth leather accents. The black leather racing stripe on the sleeve is church, but then the perforated red leather under the arm is just kreay.

When Solace from TimelessTruth told me that he had never seen this jacket I felt official. LOL.

My flourish was the RL Ski Patrol flag. One of my all time favorite I.T.’s. It’s simple and fresh.

SNEAKER FIENDS UNITE!

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

I’m feeling the pressure to generate sneaker fiend web videos now that I’ve been given the honor of Complex magazines audience. There really isn’t anything on my radar to copp so I did a walk thru of one of my favorite ‘pickup-comeup’ spots in NYC.

Century21 is one of the places to fall thru for high end designer merchandise typically starting at half off MSRP. Everything in Century21 doesn’t get the hyper-discounted treatment, but if you don’t ever do a walk-thru you won’t even know what you are missing.

And knowing is half the battle. LOL

SNEAKER FIENDS UNITE!

New Balance has been flying under my radar for the last few months by not being overhyped. I was doing my normal routine of surfing the web looking for the latest heat releasing and BONG! these NBs came across my eyeholes.

New Balance are already some of the most comfortable sneakers around, but when NB puts the premium suedes to their iconic silhouettes you now have a classic shoe. These New Balance 581 x 24 Kilates are available at Corporate.

Reebok Back…

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

The key to Reebok’s resurgence in the sneaker game is gonna be the quality of the materials they use to reintroduce people to their classic styles. Swiss sneaker retailer Titolo got their hands on the classic jogging shoe treated with a sexy oiled suede upper.

This shoe should not be slept on, especially considering how few sneakers are actually made with real leather anymore. Keep your eyes on Reebok so you don’t miss any of these classic retros they are re-releasing.
