shockwave

Thanks to Marshall’s my action figure madness doesn’t stop. They are currently featuring the Voyager class action figures from the Transformers Animated Series.

The Voyager class is a step upwards in assembly skill and sizing from the Deluxe class but not as official or as large as the Leader class of Transformer action figures.

The MSRP of these figures was originally $24.99 but Marshall’s and TJMaxx are offering them for $12.99 so if you are a collector please visit these stores before the holiday season rush. The Transformers figures are very well made and also extremely articulated for hours of fun recreating scenes from the animated series.

I have seen multiple units of the Shockwave figure at several stores and this is one of the only figures that is a ‘quad’ transformer, meaning it has four different modes it can be placed in. For my own personal reasons I relate to this character from the OG series and I am happy he was brought along to subsequent iterations of the franchise to be a loyal soldier for Megatron.

Shouts to CollectionDX for their thorough review of this figure. Marshall’s is overstocked with these Transformers right now so I suggest any fan of the franchise should beat a path to one of their stores and secure a favorite character or two.

Who knows, maybe you might even get inspired into making yourself a video?

air jordan 2009

I don’t feature Jordan brand shoes on this page because I don’t really fux with J’s like that anymore. You can pretty much go anywhere on the web and see some shit about Air Jordans. Knowing all of that going in I have to talk to you about this shoe – The Air Jordan 2009.

I loved the profile of the AJ2009 from the word go, but the $190 pricepoint was totally prohibitive. Only the most gonzo Air Jordan fan was copping these shoes. It was the first time I could remember AJ stans dissing the shoe release on a wholesale level.

It wasn’t until I came up on these shoes in A.J.Wright stores that I decided to fux with the shoe. As it stands now I have 3 pairs of 2009s. They were too cheap for me not to copp. I just saw them for $29.99 at the Nike outlet in Woodbury Commons. If you see this shoe for less than $50 I am telling you to go in hardbody.

I finally cracked a pair last weekend and they blew my mind. They were more responsive and more comfortable than a pair of Air Max. So I consulted with one of my Sneaker Fiends superstars who also happens to be a de facto Jordan brand representative – Solace from Timeless Truth.

Solace sent me these links of his homey Jason Mayden who actually designed the Air Jordan 2009. After learning all about the technical details of these shoes I can’t wait to rock them again. Keep a lookout for these shoes in my next fanboy video. Until then…

Dirtyjerz sent me a link to the Rochester Big & Tall stores online catalog. I’m checking for some outerwear right now. Something bulletproof to keep the shots from the haters off me.

doernbecher

Shouts to my brother Premium Pete for shooting me these images from the Doernbecher Freestyle Project.

About Doernbecher Freestyle

Doernbecher Freestyle was created in 2004 when Doernbecher Foundation board member Michael Doherty invited one of Nike’s shoe designers to take a tour of the hospital. It was designer Marcus Tayui’s vision to see patients design shoes with the proceeds benefiting the hospital that in many cases has saved their lives.

Part of the program involves a launch party held in October where more than 300 business and community leaders come together to see the shoes, bid on limited pairs and meet the patients/designers in person.

Now in its seventh year, this extraordinary program has raised over $2.4 million for the hospital, which uses the funds for everything from clinical programs and hospital construction to providing care for uninsured children. This year’s patient designers come from Doernbecher’s cancer, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery and nephrology programs.

Several years ago I purchased a pair of Doernbecher Dunks at a Niketown party. I wish all my sneaker acquisitions had the benefit of donating money to worthy causes like this. I’d certainly have put a dent in cancer with all the sneakers I have.

This years offering has plenty of flavor and originality as well as some futuristic silhouettes. Here’s a quick preview of my favorite styles…

Air Jordan III’s with an icy outsole? Fire flames james.

God is in the details and the Zoom Vomero is chock full of graphics and materials details. The gingham print is so effin’ country cabin. The premium leather is also a nice touch. My favorite detail is the articulation of the outsole.

I was never into the P-Rod signature skateboard shoe but this pair of P-Rod 2.5’s turned me out with the graphic on the removable insole.

jedi masters and lightsabers, oh my.

My favorite pair of the pack is the Air Zenyth. The silhouette is clean and understated. I think these might be women’s sizes only so I shouldn’t hesitate in copping a pair for Chocolate Snowflake.

I’m not an Air Force 1 dude in the least, but these joints have a colorway reminiscent of the volcano lava inspired ‘Heat Rocks‘.

murakami

Why do the Japanese have this love affair with electric blue and flash pink?

From Murakami’s high voltage artwork we get Masahiro Hirosawa’s 21 Mercer BeSpoke design.

Nike has the most insane materials to match the off the wall colorway. A Kevlar upper with a mock crocskin and premium suede will keep the player haters and the bullets at bay.

Nike BeSpoke ain’t no joke.
