Clone Wars Is Star Wars Crack…

star wars

The Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network is better than I expected it to be. After the Clone Wars feature film a couple of years ago I slept on this series beinbg developed by Cartoon Network. I wanted it to be bloodier and more ruthless. The series is set in the Star Wars universe in between the timelines of episode II ‘Attack Of The Clones’ and ep. III ‘Revenge Of The Sith’.

As the Separatist vs. Republic war rages on we start to see the chinks in the Republic’a armor. The Jedi Knights are under duress spread far and wide across the universe. Old rivalries are rehashed and the battle lines are drawn. I watched an episode where the Mandalorians were building up their war machine again after several generations of seeking peace, productivity and prosperity. You even get to meet Obi Wan’s girlfriend.

Clone Wars is a fantastic ret-conning of the Star Wars universe that is good television programming for any level of Star Wars fan. I’ve recently been on a clone trooper binge so I am enjoying watching these characters be introduced and placed into their respective roles for the story. I know how the story progresses but watching the details unwind is the best part.

If you are a Star Wars fan I know I don’t have to tell you to watch this show, but if you aren’t totally a fan of the SW storyline you will still enjoy the action and the next generation computer graphics imaging used for the animation.

Queen’s Day In Kings County…

nefertiti

Tonite is the Target 1st Saturday event at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. 1st Saturday is always filled with music, art and energy. The dance party for this evening looks like a winner. They’ve got a real deejay and she is going to focus on highlighting the women of soul and rap music.

I expect there to be a gang of sexy high heels walking around the building. Museum chicks >>> club chicks. Actually, they are all one in the same except when club chicks go to the museum they are better behaved. Bring your flask fellas because tonite will be one of THOSE nights.

NB1300

In honor of Nefertiti and the other African queens that will be present at this event I am popping tags on a crisp pair of New Balance 1300s. These joints were made in England. Polo Ralph Lauren will also be in effect as you might imagine.

If you aren’t doing anything later on and you can afford the free cover charge of zer-0 dollars and zer-0 cents you should fall through the Brooklyn Museum of Art. The event begins at 5pm but the dance party doesn’t start until 9pm.

I went looking for an image of my sneakers and I came across a pic of this colorway NB1300s. I have to find these joints now. These are definitely ‘Blu Cheez’.

MEYHEM YORK CITY…

I got up with the homie MEYHEM LAUREN for a minute last night to politic this production going down in April. The date will be here in a minute so I have to get busy nailing everything down to the wall. The venue first and foremost and then the artists. MEYHEM reminded me to holler at THIRSTIN’ HOWL 3rd and make sure he has the date open on his schedule. MEYHEM and THIRST go back and on the strength of the love of the lifestyle we all came together. I could say it was the Timeless Truth video shoot for ‘Priceless’ but in truth we was bound to come together at some point. NYC is a big city, but the group of people that are into certain shit hardbody are the smaller subsets and they always link even if it happens on some randomosity.

Here’s THIRSTIN’ HOWL 3rd and MEYHEM LAUREN fuxing around in the studio having fun…

Thirstin’ Howl 3rd and Meyhem Lauren – ‘Treat Her Like A Prostitute’

MEYHEM and I walked east along Queens Boulevard from the Queens Center Mall up to the Marshall’s in Rego Park. Macy*s at QCM had garbage. It’s been a thousand years since I caught any heat from that spot. I don’t even go into QCM anymore since they closed the Orange Julius spot. While we walked under the Long Island Expressway I peeped what looked like a wheatpaste label on the overhead concrete piers at least ten feet off the ground. The shit read MEYHEM LAUREN .COM and I laughed out loud. What was even more hilarious is that MEYHEM said he doesn’t even know who did that shit.

Graff kids are the OG guerilla marketers. They invent newer and slicker ways to put their brand in front of your eyes. They develop the nuanced ways to attract your eyes. When I talk about the “lifestyle” I am literally talking about MEYHEM LAUREN. He lives it all. Polo, sneakers, graffiti. I’m extra sick because he wears a size 12. I’m just lucky he doesn’t collect action figures. He’d take that game over too.

Meyhem Lauren – Got The Fever

We fell thru this spot on Queens Boulevard called Format. It was a tiny little BMX specialty shop with some sick ass bike frames and SBs for sale. Quagmires and such. Nigel, the brother working at the shop asked me if I was a “Lo Head” and I told him that I wasn’t a ‘Lo head but a “Lifestyler”. Polo Ralph Lauren is my favorite clothing brand fa’sho but my love for ‘Lo goes deeper[ll] than my vintage bear baseball caps. I’m all about matching my knit sweaters with hats and scarves of the same design. I’m all about coordinating my sneakers with my outfit as well. And if you keep your eyes wide open you might see remnants of my presence somewhere in the city.

The Marshall’s on Queens Blvd was tapped out as well. MEYHEM pointed me to a couple of I.T.s they had on the floor but nothing had the dazzle top make the kid thirsty to cop. I kept it moving and MEYHEM and I parted ways for now with more ideas about who we can connect with for the ‘Lo-End Theory event. I feel like this joint will be epic. In the handful of blocks that we walked and talked I learned a lot about Killa Sha that most fans of his didn’t know and I learned that MEYHEM even knew some of my closest friends from when I lived another life. The world is hell’a big my peoples, but when you fux some certain kinds of shit you will always meet the other people that fux with that shit too. It’s inevitable.

“Too hard for white linen, too straight for white denim.
You fux with white women that listen to Lyfe Jennings.
I black Nike Venom with the white stripe in ’em,
black Levi’s with the knife to strike get ’em. P!!!”

Premium Pete tells me this is the 3rd time that Nike is releasing the SB Venom shoe. It’s been one of the most popular SB’s overall at the PremiumLaces site. The shoe is all about simplicity and subtle details. Most people recognize the name and the colorway to represent the Spider-Man villain that Todd McFarlane made legendary.

What you won’t notice until you get the shoes in your hands is that the Nike ‘swoosh’ is a faux snakeskin leather, hence giving the namesake ‘Venom’ its double meaning. If God is in the details he must be working for Nike SB.

Late Pass: D/Will’s Cartoon Beat Emporium…

late pass

I was doing my thing @ 2DBZ when I came across this post for D/Will’s Cartoon Beat Emporium. I hadn’t seen these previously so I had to take out my internets late pass. I thought this was another project from Tanya Morgan’s Don Will and his crazy Cincinnati Jamaican having six jobs ass.

Nah, it turns out that D/Will is a rapper producer from the Kansas City area (TKC stand up!). He started a project titled Cartoon Beat Emporium where he takes clips from his favorite animated shows and lays his beats over the top of the visuals. Some of his favorite cartoons are some of my favorites also.

The beats that D/Will produced for these clips have some flavor to them. I’m imagining Sean Price going in over some of these joints like the Dexter’s Lab track. These cartoon’s are making me fiend for a big ass salad bowl full of cereal. That and the fact I’m putting this post in the queue and its 2am. And I’m high.

Peep and enjoy…
