Rising Up @ The Highline…

roots jam

I have to give a shout out to Chocolate Snowflake the boss behind the scenes with the same dreams and schemes to rub some sunshine on our faces in all kinds of different places.

My lady was the pre-game last night before I took a whole rainsoaked quest through New York City culminating with the company of the almighty cool ?uestlove and the amazing legendary Roots crew.

Black Thought, Dice Raw, Joe Budden, and Melanie Fiona tore shit asunder. Brooklyn’ Tanya Morgan represented. Stay tuned today for the drop titled ‘Official Spaceship Status’ = Roots Jam @ Highline.

Official white boys with WBW were in effect. Highline is classy, drinks are a little pricey ($10 for Stoli virginal water and pineapple juice), but the bartenders get heavier hands on your return. Highline is pushing the folks at SOB’s to the brink I think. Definitely for Hip-Hop shows. Solangetay in the building.

Oh shit internets! Who is a sexier MILF than Solangetay?

Tahiry?

roots jam

Tahiry also in the building of course holding down Joe B. But I don’t think she can be classified as a MILF until she and Budden get married.

Before that was some dope Nike sportswear joint. DAVID WRIGHT of the Mets sat with CHRIS ISENBERG and was exposed for being a New York athlete that just wants to sacrifice everything to win, and then party his ass off. I think I will enjoy the Mets season this year especially their encounters with my new home city Philadelphia.

Wowzers internets!

A Detroit Bird Flies Off Into The Sunset…

fidrych

MARK ‘Bird’ FIDRYCH was a colorful baseball player for the Detroit Tigers whose career was way shorter than he was, but his legend never stopped growing long after his playing days were over. FIDRYCH was beloved by the press which has only published nice stories about the quirky pitcher who came into the major leagues in a flash and left them just as abruptly.

FIDRYCH played the game with a carefree spirit and maintained that perspective throughout his life. He was just MARK being MARK way before there was MANNY being MANNY. If there is anything that MANNY RAMIREZ has not done to curry the favor of the beat writers who have covered his career is to have pitched in the majors.

I’m sure it’s because MARK FIDRYCH was a pitcher that the sportswriters celebrate his offbeat character. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Giving Pirates A Good Name Again…

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

pirates logo

The Pittsburgh Pirates are doing their best to undo the besmirching of the word “pirate” that is taking place thanks to those poverty stricken folks in Somalia. Maybe ANDY VAN SLYKE and DAVE PARKER can petition the national press to rename the Somali thieves as “corsairs”? Or does that sound too swashbuckling? The Tunisians might take umbrage with that term as well.

Baseball season is back in effect party people. I’m shutting down my skittish reportage of the Association because the Knicks are so damn woeful, plus I’m not feeling this media coronation of LeBRON JAMES. Baseball is going to be my new girlfriend this summer. And why not? She loves catching balls in her mitt [[ll]]

It’s still early enough in the season to believe that everybody has a chance to be the champions. Despite my Mets losing their new stadium inauguration to the Padres I will still ride with them to win the NL East this season. JOHAN SANTANA is the effin’ truth on the mound and FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ deserves to have the Public Enemy song ‘Shut ‘Em Down’ played every time he steps on the hill. Here’s how I see the league shaping up this season…

NL EAST
Mets (winner)
Phillies (wild card)

NL CENTRAL
Pirates (winner)

NL WEST
Dodgers (winner)

AL EAST
Red Sox (winner)

AL CENTRAL
Twins (winner)
Royals (wild card)

AL WEST
Angels (winner)

I have every right to revise this list in June prior to the All-Star break and in July after the non-waiver trading deadline. For all of you folks who lack a cable provider like I do I suggest you log on to MLB Gameday over on the MLB.com website. Gameday allows you to follow baseball games in progress with a pitch by pitch by play account. It’s like having your computer fill in your scorecard for you so that you can do the important stuff like DL internets pr0n.
