It’s been a minute since I submitted a written entry for the feature here at this site where I document the various Timberland boots in my collection.
I just received a package from some friends who know how much I fux with the tree. They sent me these dandy Timberland boots which are part of the Earthkeepers series. I placed a tie in the shot because the boots invoked a hunting theme to me.
The style is called the City 6″ boot. I like the side zipper detail which lets me keep the boots laced up when I take them off. Yeah, I’m lazy like that, but that’s only because I was wearing the boots all day long while Chocolate Snowflake and I walked the streets of Prospect Heights.
First, we returned books to the library at Grand Army Plaza and chilled in the auditorium for a presentation. Then we walked down Flatbush Avenue to the BestBuy at Atlantic Terminal (stopping at Christies for a patty, natch). Then it was over to the food co-op on Union to do some grocery shopping.
I wanted to give the boots a test run in conditions that a normal workday for me might consist of with the time on my feet. The boots were as comfortable as a sneaker. That has to be due to the removable insole that Timberland placed in these boots. Its an anti-fatigue foam that Timberland needs to place in every single shoe they make. Walking in these shoes was glorious.
I’m gonna try and politic with Timberland to see if I can get two more pairs of these insoles.
The Earthkeepers definitely look sharp, but don’t get fooled by the good looks. These boots were made for trekking. The Earthkeepers are built to last with green rubber outsoles made from over 40% recycled rubber and the latest Timberland innovation called ‘Bionic Canvas’. The ‘Bionic Canvas’ is made with organic cotton yarn and recycled PET plastics which aid in the abrasion resistance and the water repellent ability of the fabric.
This is why I’m wearing the City boots for the rest of the week to see how they hold up in the rain that is forecast for the NYC area. Give credit to Timberland also for making shoes that let you express your various changes in lifestyle apparel as the seasons change.
One day I’m gonna ID a series of kicks after my all-time favorite breakfast cereals. I hated that Fruity Pebbles would get soft as soon as milk touched them but I did like drinking the colored milk. LOL.
I was playing around on the ID site as I am wont to do when I dream about what I am gonna do with all my lottery winnings. The new Air max 2011 is currently the apple of my eye. Nike is taking their Air Max 2009 platform and riding that joint until the wheels fall off (or metaphorically speaking, until the air escapes). I liked the Air Max 2010 enough to pick up a pair from the Air Max Attack pack but when I put them on my feet I felt a kind of ways because they didn’t look as futuristic as I hoped they would.
I’m hoping the 2011 version works out better for me. It’s an incredibly lightweight shoe. Even lighter than the Air Max 2009. The upper is Nike’s ‘Hyperfuse’ technology which is a just a combination of durable synthetic materials. The Hyerfuse upper acts like a shell over the mesh sockliner. Of course the key to the current crop of Air Max shoes is the full foot length air bag cushion.
I’m not sure how Nike is going to evolve the technology of the 360° airbag but I’m sure they are working on it. And when they have it figured out I will be all over it.
I colorblocked this mock up for clarity’s sake. The mesh sockliner is blue. The Hyperfuse cage is red and purple and the 360° airbag is green.
No Boutros Boutros BOOOOOUTROS to the ID that I put on these kicks. LOL
My brother WIGGZ is a lifestyler extraordinaire. He created the website Show Ya’ LO and he travels far and wide to preach the gospel of the lifestyle.
WIGGZ fell thru the other day for one of our SFU drops featuring New Balances because he thought we might have had our wires crossed on the style number of the NB hiking boot. We love the NBs here at DP.com and we love that New Balance has retro’d their heritage styles.
Here are some images of the OG NB hiker which just went for $51 ($36 bid + $15 S/H) on the eBay system. That was a steal. I hope that WIGGZ was the winning bidder. These joints are boss. And peep the official Vibram soles. New Balance was nothing to fux with back in the day.
In a few more days the SneakerTUBE.tv contest ‘Rep Your Sneaker’Hood’ will draw to a close. Who knew there were Sneaker Fiends Unite! reps in India?
‘Rep Your Sneaker’Hood’ has reminded me to visit all my favorite haunts across the city for sneaker deals. Delancey Street is still the super come-up spot but I fell thru a few Bronx shops on Fordham Avenue to see what they had in store.
