You can understand in the land of unmitigated hype how the trade that brings Carmelo Anthony to MSG also brings some unchecked expectations. We are really gonna need a center or a bonafide big man on the block grabbing boards. Amar’e Stoudemire fouled out in the fourth quarter with four only rebounds.
If the Knicks were a rebound by committee team like the Riley/Van Gundy era we might be able to really make some noise in the watered down Eastern Conference. ‘Melo def lived up to the hype by scoring 27 points even if it took him an Iverson-ish 25 attempts. I’ll give him a pass on the poor field goal percentage since he also secured 10 rebounds during his time on the floor. I’m starting to see the vision that Donnie Walsh, the Knicks general manager, was formulating this past summer The Knicks are almost there. All they need is a little Dontrevius on the sideline.
