More London Games Lifestyle…

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

My Brit homey Mr.Blister sent me a kite telling me that the Olympics were in Londontown again after the 1924 Olympiad. The 1948 Summer Games was the return of the Olympics to England.

Knowing Ralph Lauren’s asPirations like I do I thought I’d look thru some of the flicks from the 1948 Olympics to see if he cribbed some of his graphic details from the outfits worn during that time.

Sure enough Ralph Lauren found inspiration from Dutch sprinter Fanny Blankers-Koen’s (also known as ‘the Flying Housewife’) bib numbers.

The 1992 plates series is one of the indisputable GOATs for lifestyle collectors. The tee shirts, rugbys and button downs fetch several hundred dollars apiece. The windbreaker jackets are my favorites.

Awwwww ish! Nike, you’s a fool for this one.

NikeID put the Air Jordan Spiz’ike on their customization programme.

And just in time for the Knickerbocker playoff run.

These are called the Kniz’icks Spiz’ikes Home because Madison Square Garden is the world’s most famous arena.

I’m calling these the Kniz’icks Spiz’ikes Away because the Knicks will have to be road warriors to go deep in the Association’s post-season tournament

This colorway is the Kniz’icks Spiz’ikes Alternates aka the Pat Zachary just in case the Knicks bow out early I will have some kicks to fux with the Mets.

Chariots Of Fire Lifestyle…

Friday, April 20th, 2012

Polo Ralph Lauren’s aspirations for combining the imagined gentility of European and American nostalgia will reach its logical zenith at the 2012 London Olympiad.

Taking the design cues from the flapper days of the 1920s and coincidentally the last time the Olympics were played in London (1924), the ultimate Americana fashion label will be supplying the uniforms for the USA athletes.

The newsboy caps are pretty dope but the sickest I.T. in this series might be the sunglasses.

Of course there are sweatshirts and short sleeved knits on tap which are must cops for all of us intent on living the ‘Lo lifestyle.

This run isn’t matching the intensity of the 1992 games series of clothing which remains top acquisition status on most collector’s holy grail lists. Still, there are pieces in this run that will rep the lifestyle for you in years to come.

I wonder if the Dan and Dave ‘Chariots Of Fire’ tees will be retro’d for these Summer Games?
