Hip-Hop Is Timeless…

The best shit I got in the mail this year wasn’t free boots or free sneakers or free gear. The best shit I got in the mail this year was this bundle I bought from my Hip-Hop hermanos – Timeless Truth.

I can’t really put into words how proud of these dudes I am. Not just because we come from the same neighborhood in Queens. Not just because they gave me my first shot at being a radio personality. Not just because we are cut from the same Polo Ralph Lauren cloth.

Timeless Truth is a manifestation of real Hip-Hop. When you take your destiny into your own hands and you create your own reality. Not a fantasy world, but a real world based on hard work, determination, perserverance, love and loyalty. These brothers ARE the movie.

If you don’t have their debut CD, which they produced with RTNC as a labor of love to this Hip-Hop lifestyle then I implore you to pick up your copy ASAP (no Rocky). Or copp a Timeless Truth tee. Just do something to support these brothers so that they know we still out here looking for that REAL.

MarQ Spekt: Broken Mazes…

Our homey MarQ Spekt lets his latest project loose on the internets.

Stream it for yourself HERE

“This record is a collaborative between myself and experimental, proto-new wave musician Gary Wilson(Stones Throw). It’s rare that you get the opportunity to work with the actual artist rather than just sampling the record.

Gary opened his vaults and provided ample soundscapes. Some of these instrumentals dating back to 1973 may have been heard before. Others may not. The ending result is a pure creative expression and meshes Hip Hop, Psychedelic, Jazz, Funk…

Soak up the vibrations and enjoy!”

Sandwiches…

Rocking this Meyhem Lauren classic ode to sandwiches whilst I assemble my post-Combat Jack Show vittles.

The night was crazy as we sipped and chatted with Bun B before he ships off to Europe to rally in the Gumball 3000.

Then we chilled onstage with Just Blaze as he brought out multiple heavyweights for his Red Bull Music Academy soundclash.

Then we dipped into DumBo for a secret loft party featuring Riff Raff thrown by KarmaLoop. The next wave was back in Manhattan, but since Combat Jack is a Brooklyn dude once you cross the bridge for the night you don’t go back into the city.

I was cool with that since I’m old now anyhoo.

I raided the ‘frige for the last two slices of cheddar and roasted ham.

But first I dropped some tomatoes and this fiery dijon mustard on two pieces of toasted peasant bread.

Peace to Matt Raz for leaving me with that clip of ooooweee I had for dessert.

Run The Jewels On You Fools!

Killer Mike and El-P are the Stroker and Hoop of rap music. A couple of burned out private detectives itching for a fight with anyone who’s making noise. Their turn on the Combat Jack TV Show deserves more than the 30 minutes you are gonna watch below.

Mike and El are also a supergroup now called ‘Run The Jewels‘.

Thank them later.
