Batman’s relationship with the Boy Wonder has always made him suspect in the eyes of many as being a grade-A fruitstick. I think Superman peeped his steez early and tried to turn him out, but Batman always kept mad tricks up his sleeve (literally) and ended up making Superman his bitch.
