Styles P – ‘Send A Kite’

Real talk is that I h8 going to see my dunns when they are on lock down. I h8 the smell of prisons. I h8 being treated like a second class citizen just because your peoples is in jail. Don’t look for me to come to see you in jail. Holler at me when you are back on the streets.

When Soundwave was doing his bid I never went to see that dude, but I stayed sending him kites. I did that to keep his mood high and keep him in touch with the shit that was happening outside of the box.

I’m calling these Penny 1/2 Cent’s the Green Ghost’s.

IRS gets ass handed to it

Lori Singleton-Clarke, recipient of the DP.com 21-Gun Salute

INTERNETS! Do you realize that you will never win if you go toe to toe with the IRS? Do you? Internets! We are speaking of a virtual impossibility. A chance so low, you would be crazy to risk it. Wesley Snipes [ll] tried it – and look where it got him.

BUT INTERNETS! Never give up on the human spirit. The human spirit is capable of incapable feats, Internets! Today’s DP.com 21-Gun Salute goes to a sister who challenged the IRS and won. From the front page of the Money & Investing section of the weekend’s Wall Skreet Journal:

A Maryland nurse accomplished two rare feats in her battle with the Internal Revenue Service: She defended herself against the agency’s lawyers and won, and she got a ruling that could help tens of thousands of students deduct the cost of an M.B.A. degree on their taxes.

The U.S. Tax Court handed Lori Singleton-Clarke her victory last month, saying the 47-year-old Bryantown, Md., woman had properly deducted nearly $15,000 in business school tuition. The Tax Court ruling should make it easier for many other professionals to deduct the expense of a Master in Business Administration degree.

Even the man in the robe gave this sister crazy propers:

Reached Friday by phone, Judge Goldberg said: “I remember the case well because Ms. Singleton-Clarke was so articulate and well-prepared. Too many taxpayers are not.”

INTERNETS! Dare to be different. Dare to challenge the system. Dare to stand up and say, This shit ain’t right! Dare to be great. Lori Singleton-Clarke did. Will you, Internets?

ethiopia

I h8 to read stories like this one…

Israel’s Treatment of Ethiopians ‘Racist’

From the eugenics programs to the outright genocide of the Palestine people to this ‘birth control’ fiasco we find that the state of Israel acts much like the oppresive German regime from which they escaped from.

The Ethiopian Jew speaks the ancient Hebrew aramaic language. Still they are considered second class citizens socially, politically and economically. Now Israel’s health system is treating them like chattel biologically.

Mandatory contraception from South Africa? I was never comfortable with Israel’s relationship with South Africa and I definitely don’t want them using drugs that the Dutch used during apartheid.

How does one approach Israel on their human rights record when the argument is almost always diverted to the Holocaust or attributed to anti-Semitism? Standing up for the Ethiopian Jew is actually proactive Semitism. I am just trying to preserve the descendants of Shem.

deka

My homie BRIAN DEKA PAUW is one of those brothers in the vanguard of post-Blackness. He has never let living and learning in Bedford-Stuyvesant deter him from the things that he wanted to do with his life. He’s fortunate that he doesn’t have the social borders that most people in America have. Not just the kids growng up in the ‘hood, but everybody in America who can’t see past race or class when they look at other people.

Brian is a avid snowboarder. So much so that he has formed a not-for-profit organisation geared to bringing kids from the center city out of their environment into the great outdoors for them to learn recreational activities, but mostly for them to realize that borders they thought encircled them do not exist. It will be a yeoman’s effort but it will have to start somewhere.

deka

It started over a week ago with the first big snowstorm of the ’09 winter. Brian grabbed up his board and boogied over to Fort Greene Park to shred the hill in front of the veteran’s memorial statue. Fort Greene Park exists in an interesting socio-political-economic vortex. One side of the park along DeKalb Avenue fronts some of Brooklyn’s most expensive real estate, while the Myrtle Avenue side fronts Walt Whitman projects.

The lines of park ownership reflect the color of the new fallen snow. Little ghetto kids can play in the park but they had better keep the noise down. And definitely don’t start forming any crowds. When Brian took the opportunity to instruct some of the youngsters who were curiously enthralled by he and his friends snowboard antics is when the NYC Parks Rangers swooped in and used their authority to ruin what could have been the removal of ther borders in these kids minds.

deka

I’m sad and embarrassed that these Parks Department employees abused their authority in this instance. The vibe was such that their presence was not only unnecessary but also somewhat questionable. You can never really tell what thoughts exist in a man’s mind, but you can certainly tell when he is lying and when he is being honest and upright.

The truth is that the NYC Parks Department DOES allow snowboarding in NYC Parks. Remember the Red Bull Snowscrapers exhibition that we highlighted here at this site? That was in an NYC park. Albeit NYC was paid handsomely to use their property by Red Bull. At the end of the day these parks belong to us. All of us. Especially those who can’t afford to drive into the Catskills to a resort or even hop the bus to Bear Mountain for that matter.

Support my friend Brian and his Hoods To Woods movement.

FREE THE PARKS, AND THE KIDS WILL FOLLOW.
