Getting ready for combat…

Big up to Adam, Mel and Doug at the Flud Watches empire. The new Flud BPM watch is killing shit.

Look at Adam acting like he is doing work. You almost believe him because of his watch.

Flud granted me a few more pieces from their current roster for me to give away to DPdotcommenters so look out for a contest or some other sexy shit.

Flud is the first official sponsor of the Combat Jack Show BYOB BBQ. Salutes for that.

This was one of my favorite Combat Jack Show podcasts evar. Deric D.Dot Angiletti is one of the architects to the soundtrack of my life. His discography is bananas and he is still creating new shit.

The Combat Jack Show is crossing the threshold to becoming that shit you can not afford to miss. I’ll definitely be there.

The Source presents Ghetto Metal…

ghetto metal

When the homey Combat Jack told me he was joining the Source mag staff I thought it was the perfect sign that the magazine might return to its roots describing the essence of the culture. The underground arts movements that breathe life into rap and Hip-Hop on the daily is what needs to be documented and highlighted.

I think the Source is doing a great job in presenting these music showcases along with Bazaar Royale. Established rap acts and underground punk rock bands all share the same stage throughout the night.

ghetto metal

From Maino to BeastMode to Burnt Sugar to Game Rebellion. It’s all part of the culture.

Fux around and you can even get a FREE tattoo applied to your arm in the green room.

Dr. Cornell West was in the building doing his half a preacher rabble rouser routine. Dr. West should host every rap show from now on.

The Source mag is winning again with Ghetto Metal.

I’m finally getting a chance to catch this flick on a big screen. I haven’t even watched the torrents file I DL’d. I really wanted the experience of watching the movie with an audience. Communing with the Hip-Hop community. U.N.I.T.Y.

roc

Jay-Z’s peeps at Roc-A-Wear invited me to their NoLita pop-up space to preview the re-launch of the brand from it’s previous streetwear focus to an upscale men’s fashion line.

The only clothing brand which emerged from Hip-Hop that was able to legitimately cross that threshold was Sean John. Phat Farm and Karl Kani both had items which transcended their Hip-Hop roots but the lines themselves never went above them. That is definitely Roc-A-Wear’s aim this time around.

The folks from Roc-A-Wear were also generous enough to gift me with several items too so if you are someone on my snail mail list you might should watch the throne, er, your mailbox I meant.
