What are we gonna do Internets? Too many lil’ niggas doing right is getting they baby wigs popped. Danroy Henry was a college student and a star football player, but all them police could see was a Black boogeyman.
Now this baby of a lil’ nigga gets popped by a fake cop who isn’t even arrested when the real cops come to the scene. Why? Black boogeymen syndrome of course. The murderer was even protected by the police at the scene. I’m sad for this lil’ baby nigga, but what can I do?
Every now and again you get to hear a song which reminds you why you love Hip-Hop music so much. The Message was that first song which gave me the freedom to believe music could transform my surroundings. It was like the song explained the world and the consequences which would follow if you didn’t make the right choices for your life.
The Message was a cautionary tale but still filled with compassion. That is how I feel about this song right here. ‘Decisons’ by Ka is that teach-the-babies rap music. You don’t hear too much of this sound anymore because empowering poor people’s thought patterns isn’t commercially viable. Ka seems like the type of rapper who knows this song won’t get burn on the radio.
DP.com has to always be a place for THESE rappers and these songs.
Reebok’s homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat isn’t just honorable, it’s evolutionary. Basquiat’s influence within the pop culture art scene is part of the Hip-Hop godhead. Basquiat is the voice of the disenfranchised and eternally creative. There is no definition for this spirit and the only word we can find to be a synonym is FREEDOM.
Thanks to Reebok for blessing me and the Combat Jack Show staff with these kicks. #Respect
