And I Thought B.E.T. Was Bad…

golly

Ms.PEACHES, the YouTube diva, has a series of short films that I think you should all watch at least to be thankful that she isn’t your sister. This is ghetto celebrity madness at its best, or its worst, depending on how you feel. I have a strong feeling that Black folk are going to use their inate creative talents in order to figure a way to top these videos.

We all should be scared as fuck for what’s coming up next…

Just when you thought that Black people had found their lowest low with ‘My Chain Hang Low’ you discover that the bottom of the well is deep, too deep. We are all on the express bus to Hell in a handbasket. Glad that you could come along for the ride. Now say your prayers…

VH-1: Not All Crap

Just when I am ready to throw Viacom Corp. under the bus, they produce a program that is the highlight for my entire year…

Approaching it’s third annual broadcast, the VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors might be the greatest Hip-Hip program ever produced. The formula of featuring new emerging talent along with honored performers has made it the one show that hasn’t reduced rap music to minstrelsy and cornball posturing. I admit that the hosting can get better, but who can argue with the talent that has been on display since their first broadcast? If you just arrived in America from say, Nebraska, and you wanted to know what Hip-Hop music was about then the Hip-Hop Honors program is your 101 class.

Past honorees have included Public Enemy, KRS-1, Grandmaster Flash, LL Cool J, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Kool Herc, Salt-n-Pepa, RUN D.M.C., and Ice motherfuckin’ Tee. This years’ show looks like it’s going to be the best one yet with LIL’KIM honoring MC LYTE. ICE CUBE, WU-TANG, RAKIM, EAZY-E, the BEASTIE BOYS and the great AFRIKA BAMBAATA are all being honored and/or performing as well as DIDDY, LIL’ JON, FAT JOE, REMY MA, YOUNG JEEZY, XZIBIT, COMMON and Q-TIP. I smell a DILLA tribute inside of this program that you don’t want to miss. Even my funky uncle, GEORGE CLINTON is scheduled to perform.

Forget a BET Awards or a VMA, what you really want to watch is VH-1’s Hip-Hop Honors premiering Tuesday, October 17. And starting on Friday, September 15, VSPOT, VH-1’s broadband channel will launch a dedicated Hip Hop channel with extensive on-demand music playlists from this year’s “VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors” honorees. The channel will be programmed with additional content throughout September and October and will include honoree profiles and exclusive programming and performances from the on-air broadcast of the show.

EUGENICS ARE FUN FOR EVERYONE…

total recall

The big deal to me about ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGAR’s remarks from last week is how he recognizes that Eugenics, or selective human breeding can make people more attractive. It’s fun when you think about combining the attributes of people that you consider desirable. That’s why corporations have spent countless billions of dollars using scientists to study and dissect the human genome. Can you imagine how hot a woman clone would be if she could have a huge ass and light creamy skin and blonde hair?!?

The history of Eugenics dates back to chattel slavery here in America where some slave owners stopped producing agricultural commodities solely to focus on the yield of additional children borne from slaves. This forced breeding was producing waves of able bodied workers from the healthiest and heartiest of the human chattel. As science advanced, Eugenics became more popular as a tool to remove the part of the population that appeared dependent, say by mental or physical disability. The Nazis were always on top of all the trends and they released ads that told the people that killing the handicapped would save your tax dollars.

Fast forward to modern times and Eugenics is still at the front of peoples’ minds. The Human Genome Project is a multi-national, multi-corporation endeavor whos goal is to track and document the blueprint for humanity. Just recently, the Human Genome Project had announced that it has finally mapped all the DNA that comprise humanity.

Leave it up to white to take it to that next-next level and attempt to patent different DNA strands. This brings us back to Eugenics and our ability to make humans that possess certain characteristics. It’s been a minute since I peeped ALDOUS HUXLEY’s great novel ‘Brave New World’, but because of the Governator I realize I should go pick that tome up just so I can see what white has in store for me.

The U.K. Needs To Start Snitching…

badboys

How pervasive is the Hip-Hop ethos that reduced providing information to the police as something that should never be done? Things aren’t just in full swing here in America, but also in the United Kingdom. Word to ISRAEL RAMIREZ.

The linked story here deals with the tragedy that a mother faces when one of her children is incarcerated and another is taken from her by the angry streets. She makes a desperate plea on the television for someone in the community with information to provide it to the investigators. What this poor woman doesn’t realize is by doing that the person will be labeled forever as not being Hip-Hop. The kids in the U.K. have their priorities fixed.

The bigger story that this one above and this one here are pointing to is the rise in gun violence by young people. FREAKONOMICS taught me that the real reason that the U.S. experienced a drop in crime nationwide during the late 1990’s was due to a marked dip in the birthrate during the late 1970’s. Less kids born in 1980 means less 20yr olds in 2000. Increased access to contraceptives and even abortion meant that there were less children being born to parents who probably didn’t want them and subsequently would not be good care providers. Typically, those are the parents that most violent criminals come from.

It seems like a generalization, but that is essentially what statistics provide you with – general information. You can draw the conclusions where you see fit. The one thing is certain is that America has watched birthrates soar in the 1990’s (mostly the immigrant population) and we needed to build more schools to accomodate these kids. The next question becomes whether or not we need to build more prisons.
