le mans

Ralph Lauren is at it once again designing items that fit the lifestyle of the international man of leisure. I just went ham over the Ocean Challenge series of yachtsman apparel.

Now Polo RL is coming at me with gear from the pitcrew of the great Le Mans sportscar race.

le mans

The Le Mans Gran Prix is this famous car race held in France over 24 consecutive hours to test the endurance of the racecar and its driver.

The Polo RL Racing series has jackets and sweaters in the lineup but its this vest that has my eyes.

There’s no way I’d be able to fux with the Custom Fit XXL but thankfully Rochester Big & Tall men’s store is selling the vest too.

For those of us in the pitcrew whose six pack is from Fat Tire brew.

The Boot Camp Clique Chronicles…

Timberland weather is back. I perused the Timberland website to see if there were any new boots that excited me other than the all suede 7 eye chukka pictured above.

Here is a funky new style from Timberland called the LiteTrace™ Mid Waterproof Hiker along with the matching jacket. The idea with this shoe was to go even lighter in weight than the Cadion hikers by using JUST the waterproof membrane as the boot’s upper.

tim

Minimalism for maximum efficiency. The Cadion hikers were a trailblazing series from Timberland’s Mountain Athletics division. I love that they are still building on the concepts of strength and endurance compared to weight and construction.

The LiteTrace™ Multi-Sport Jacket is on some next level shit because it is fully waterproof and made from recycled COFFEE GROUNDS. WTF?!?

tim

All you will need to wear under this jacket for most of the winter might be a fleece vest and a longsleeve t-shirt.

Timberland weather isn’t just about the boots I will rock either, but the socks I will put on my feet before I put on the boots. The inner layer needs to respect warmth as well as comfort during these cold ass months.

If your sock game isn’t on a trillion then your footwear system isn’t complete. Here are some of the socks I’ll be looking to secure for myself this winter…

tim

Classic Crew 2-Pack
back when Timberland first introduced their socks in the 1990s the iconic tree branding was embroidered only on one foot. I’m happy they smartened up by putting the tree on both legs and using their Smartwool tech to construct these socks.

Cooling Poly Fiber Crew 2-Pack
These are the socks I wear in the dead of winter. They have a knit-in arch support and the poly fibers wick away sweat and moisture. And just in case I decide to wear shorts I have some branding available for #swag purposes.

tim

CoolMax® Poly Crew 2-Pack
Here’s a pair of socks I would wear specifically with the World Hikers or another pair of heavy duty hiking boots. The padded toe and heel sections are where the added comfort will be needed too.

tim

Mountain Athletics® Hiker 2-Pack
I gotta find these socks at one of my retail shops because these joints go perfectly with a pair of Cadion Hikers that Timberland just laced me with as a replacement for some defective fields boots. The knit-in arch, ankle support means that I can forego obvious branding because my comfort will be on… A TRILLLLYYYYONNNNN

tim

SmartWool® PhD® Running Light Mini Sock
These socks are just on some punk smoove dandy shit, and sometimes I’m on some punk smoove dandy shit with my Tims. Sometimes you just wanna be wool lite.

I’ve been patiently accumulating I.T.s from the Ocean Challenge series. This was one of those runs where I was in love with the pieces on first sight. Polo’s nautical programme of late has been ridiculous.

This might be the third straight year with a sailing jacket that was a ‘Must Copp’ on my wish list. This would be the first of those three years that I actually copped the jacket.

I ended up going ham for this series by securing the 5-panel cap and pullover sweater to match. I’m amped to roll this look out at the next Brooklyn Museum of Art 1st Saturday party. Holla at me if you see me in the streets.

Swag doesn’t stop up top tho’. You have to go from head to toe. maybe you think I’m OD’g by rocking the Ocean Challenge cap too. You’re right but its better to go all in than to leave some chips on the table.

I’m not married to these Jordan 2011s with this fit since I do have the Independence Day 5’s on ice back in the lab. I might have to keep digging to find the right shoe to set this ‘fit off properly.

I’ll give folks a heads up now and tell y’all that Marshall’s is starting to unpack their holiday season items. This means a lot of the Polo RL you might have missed at Bloomies and Macy*s will be up for grabs at prices better than most department stores can afford to sell them for.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the Polo holiday deals and you know I’ma keep building these ‘fits.

MEYHEM LAUREN LIVE @ WEBSTER HALL…

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

Meyhem Lauren headlined a homecoming celebration at the famed Webster Hall nightclub. Along with J-Love, AG da Coroner and the Outdoorsmen the set was hardbody high energy real NYC rap.

Thirstin’ Howl the 3rd, the OG Lo-Life general made an appearance too. Lifestylers were in the building rocking some of the illest pieces you will ever see.

The show featured a couple of artists I met for the first time. GoogieGoHard opened the show with energy and a supportive following. After he rocked this dude R-20 got up on stage and put in work. The Studio space in Webster Hall is intimate for a venue holding several hundred people.

The crowd was here to support Meyhem Lauren but that didn’t stop the opening acts from holding down the stage as if the show was theirs to own. Gifted Hoods’ Gee Dubs then came on the set to catch wreck. Gee Dubs is a young rapper from Queens affiliated with the All City Crew.

Gee Dubs – ‘S.O.E.(State Of Emergency)’

Shaz IllYork came on next and he brought Spit Gemz up on stage with him. The two rappers represent the BQE connect. They are calling themselves The Opposition. Shaz and Spit Gemz did some joints from Shaz’ ‘Air Unlimited’ project.

I kicked it with DJ J-Love, the mixtape king, before his protégé Meyhem Lauren took the stage. J let me listen to some tracks off his upcoming project ‘Not Designed 2 Quit’. All the Outdoorsmen are catching wreck on this album. Meyhem Lauren is a beast.

J-Love has been grooming Meyhem Lauren for this very moment. The unending volume of mixtapes, the features alongside Hip-Hop legends, the work ethic and video production. All of that prior hard work made this Meyhem performance feel like it was a homecoming. Because I know this dude personally and I know how crazy he has been grinding just to get to this place in his career I felt proud to be a part of this event.

Meyhem Lauren is the future of NYC rap because he is the embodiment of all Hip-Hop’s elements. It all started with his passion for graffiti and you should know that once you get the fever to get up you have to get down.
