Kendrick Lamar Has The Recipe…

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

I finally listened to a Kendrick Lamar song today. Yep, my first Kendrick Lamar listen and I found homeboy to be quite nice. I couldn’t tell the difference between he or Dr.Dre but to be honest they both sounded slick. This track is called ‘The Recipe’.

I got these Kendrick Lamar YouTube links from Hip-Hop Is Read and Know The Ledge. Now I’m wearing a Kendrick Lamar late pass while I listen his Section 80 album. Damn, this boy good…

The Dopp Stays Scheming…

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

You can tell the cats who went to South By Southwest and were invigorated to stay in the music biz marathon. The Doppelgangaz had just come back home from a swing thru Europe before they drove all the way down to Texas. The Dopp is setting up their next project titled ‘Beats For Brothels vol.2’. This is another album I’m highly anticipating in 2012.

The Doppelgangaz are on the verge of something a lot bigger than you might expect. Even the homey Combat Jack is starting to see the light coming from these brothers. Catch this wave early Internets so you don’t get sharked out.

Roc Marci was pushing that ‘Reloaded’ language before it became all trendy for rappers to use it. Marcberg was the best album in 2010. Here’s to placing ‘Marcberg: Reloaded’ in the top of 2012s list earrrly.

Ka: ‘Decisions’

Saturday, March 17th, 2012

Every now and again you get to hear a song which reminds you why you love Hip-Hop music so much. The Message was that first song which gave me the freedom to believe music could transform my surroundings. It was like the song explained the world and the consequences which would follow if you didn’t make the right choices for your life.

The Message was a cautionary tale but still filled with compassion. That is how I feel about this song right here. ‘Decisons’ by Ka is that teach-the-babies rap music. You don’t hear too much of this sound anymore because empowering poor people’s thought patterns isn’t commercially viable. Ka seems like the type of rapper who knows this song won’t get burn on the radio.

DP.com has to always be a place for THESE rappers and these songs.
