Kofi Black – ‘Love You Crazy’ feat. Raekwon

This track is from Kofi Black. He’s a new artist under Raekwon the Chef’s Canadian imprint Ice H2O. Smooth vocal stylings in the vein of Bilal, Raheem DeVaughn and Novel.

Here’s a clip from a live listening session I attended for the launch of Kofi Black’s mixtape project – ‘Love Sick’ dropping on, of course, ValentiMe’s Day February 14th.

Brooklyn’s Finest…

Monday, February 6th, 2012

The Brooklyn Museum of Art’s 1st Saturday event hasn’t been THIS popping in several years. I mean yeah, it pops off every month, but this time it was SPECIAL.

Firstly, my brothers in Game Rebellion were doing a set in the glass bowl. The glass framed lobby entrance at the front of the museum was never this beautiful as when the Rebels rolled thru. But before the show even started I was up in the building making some art of my own.

Esso let me shoot him for a video to his song ‘Death Do Us’ off the ‘Son of SAMO‘ EP.

I know you see that Reebok x Basquiat swag.

The Game Rebellion show was swagged out with all kinds of shiny accessories and shit. Eyewear by Coco & Breezy and metal couture from PNC Radio’s own LaureLuxe. With just the kind of fine ass arm candy that real rockstars require.

You know Game Rebellion goes hard from years of appearing on this webpage but until you catch them live and direct you won’t understand how dope they really are. You’re in luck Internets. Game Rebellion will be performing at Highline Ballroom on February 26th. Be there.

The Rebels rocked the Brooklyn Museum as if it were a homecoming celebration. Actually, it was. The band was formed in Brooklyn and has been a real part of the Black art continuum taking place in NYC and laser focused in the boro of kings(and pharoahs).

I’m pretty sure the fusty old Brooklyn Museum never had a mosh pit before, but then again Game Rebellion never put it down in here until now. This was one of my favorite performances from them in all the years I’ve fuxed with them. Nothing mattered to them about the space, the sound, whatever. They just rocked. Hardbody.

The Game Rebellion performance would have been good enough for me on most days, but on 1st Saturday there was still some more dancing to do in the Beaux Arts ballroom. Brothers flashed off their fancy footwork and floor moves. As you might imagine there was also a Soul Train line and the Brooklyn Circus even staged a fashion show.

Don’t get it twisted, the fräuleins from Germany dig the kid’s dance moves.

The sartorial swag brothers were in full effect too. The Brooklyn Museum of Art 1st Saturday event is STILL the place to be after 12 years of putting it down on Eastern Parkway.

The Brooklyn Museum of Art 1st Saturday is the place to go if you want to meet someone worth marrying. This is where Chocolate Snowflake and I shared our first dance together. I’m surprised that I still have to tell people to come to the Museum if they want to meet something sweet and good to eat. LMAO

The BEST part of the night was seeing my younger brother Boo in the building. Boo is one of the few people on the scene who calls me by my family name. You can’t imagine how refreshing it is to hear that in this crowd of thousands. I also appreciate the fact Boo has taken all my lessons in lifestyle and made them work for his own swag.

Okay Boo, I see you fam. Redboned arm candy and a vintage Montreal fitted? Swag! But the PRL overcoat is FIYAHVERKX!!!

Never Trust A Big Butt And A Smile…

BBD – ‘Poison’

Kim Kardashian has lifted the high watermark from the thigh to the waist with her marriage to divorce reality television show. Never before has a big butt been so profitable to a woman. Sure, there’s been other big butts in the game recently but Kim has shown that you can reach the heights of stardom with zero talent.

Who else comes to mind when you think of famous derrieres?

You have to laugh out loud when you think that BeYonce named her clothing company Dereon. That is some backwoods Texas ‘bama Black bullshit. Only Black people would think that Dereon is a fancy name. Unlike Kim K., BeYonce IS talented and works her ass off to boot.

Well, not her whole ass, but you know what I’m sayin’.

Jennifer Lopez isn’t as talented as BeYonce but then again she works even harder than BeYonce to get her paper up. Jel-Lo has already been married four or five times.

If she lives to be as old as Liz Taylor her marriage-divorce score will be at least a score.

Amber Rose has way less personal talent than BeYonce and J-Lo yet she still has more creative talent than Kim Kardashian. Amber Rose is a professional muse. She took KanYe West’s star and made it a supernova, then she took a middling mixtape rapper and made him mainstream. Where Kim K. takes other people’s swag from them Amber Rose gives away swag like an H & M gift bag.

We may never see Amber Rose getting wild paper from prostituting her image like Kim Kardashian because she doesn’t have those kind of managers surrounding her, but best believe it’s Amber Rose you want the kiss from. Baby, you’re a star.
