DP.COM MANNY WATCH…

mannywood

I thought the Dodgers would run away with the NL West once MANNY RAMIREZ returned from his MLB suspension for trying to acquire mantits. Even though they set the pace for the entire league with their first half start, the second half hasn’t been the case for the Blue crew. While the Dodgers still have the best record in the West division they are close to losing that perch for overall record to the Phillies and or possible the Cards.

What has hurt the Dodgers has been their lack of consistent pitching. When you don’t have a rotation with any big name starters you hope that your mid level talent gets warm late in the season. These Dodger pitchers were hot early and that helped L.A. overcome the loss of their superstar leftfielder but now it seems like the gas is running out of the tank. I just hope the acquisition of VICENTE PADILLA can help the Dodgers out.

MANNY hasn’t been totally MANNY either since his return from the suspension. Yeah, it’s unrealistic to expect him to post the same numbers he did last season when he first came to L.A. and yes, he is still an above .300 hitter, the Dodgers need his .400 avg. bat and his clutch RBI production if they hope to honestly contend with Philadelphia and St. Louis for the NL World Series berth. I’m tuned in hardbody to the MLB from this point forward.

AMBER ALERT!!!

amber alert

My bad to all of you folks getting buzzed by these AMBER ROSE areolas from your desks at the day job. Believe me these joints are better than your morning joe.

I needed to shake things up at this site a bit. I’m always considering quitting blogging and going back to my full-time grind as a construction project manager since that is the only shit that pays my bills.

Okay that isn’t me being 100. XXL, rather, Harris Publications does send me a stack every month.

I need a muse right now to shake me out of my doldrums. I’m hoping I can borrow ‘Ye Tudda’s golden girl of the moment.

Quimby – 23,422 (22,255 via HitsDailyDouble)

I would never have believed that the SlaughterHouse debut would tally up to less than the Rick Ro$$ ‘Deeper Than Rap’ CD or even the Asher Roth debut, but that goes to show me that the value of being an internets celebrity is so low that you need to have two(2) or more jobs in order for you to keep your bills up to date (and mine are not).

I hope the band continues to make music together because their energy and skillset are things that rap music needs desperately. Truth be told if energy and skills sold…

Bigg ups to Mel and Doug from Flud watches.

Back to our regular programming tomorrow.

red hook

Editor’s note: The pic above was sent to us from the intrepid BK journalist Willis Still Sunsweet, from WhoWalkInBrooklyn, who attended the DJ Premier x DJ Scratch performance hosted by CityParks in Red Hook. Willis was with us at the BlackMoon Boot Camp show in Crown Heights as well. The scene in Red Hook looks a lot different from the outset. Folding chairs at a Hip-Hop show? Brooklyn, no actually Red Hook, stand the fuck up! I’ma let Willis Still Sunsweet tell it…

Peep Evil Dee at left getting his photo taken with mad Asian crate diggers… The scene was okay, mix of ‘hood, Asians, white beat kids and curiosity seekers but you know how these things are– not the most compelling musical experience.

Danny Castro brought up some cat from Detroit, Niles Davis (?!) before who did a L-O-N-G “Phantom of the Opera” rap over symphonic bluster. It was ok but hard to get hold of tho’ he did take off his fisherman hat a lot.

Danny Castro had his history mixed up a bit, saying we’d all get shot 10 years ago, which ain’t true at all. 20 years ago Red Hook was a rough place but mostly on ladies of the night who didn’t make enough paper for their pimps…

Best part of night is stopping at Fairway for crab meats…

Fairway fun fact: that used to be a police impound yard in mid-late ’90s. Do you remember when ODB was all in the news here with his alleged shoot-outs, traffic accidents, etc? That was also last visible gasp of mafia killings– an “associate” thrown out bleeding from car by Grand Army Plaza, BODY FOUND IN TRUNK of car at impound yard, etc.

Brooklyn, MAKE SOME NOISE!
