WBL panel

If you live in the Metro DC area and you want to talk to some of the Internets’ Celebrities you should make your way to Busboys & Poets for the inaugural event – If I Ruled the Blogosphere: Hip-Hop Blogs & Social Change Panel.

I’ve been invited to be a panelist along with my great friend Meka from 2DopeBoyz.com and the homey Frank from rappersiknow.com plus some other heads making waves on Wi-Fi and broadband channels. Shout out to the folks from Words, Beats & Life for organizing this event.

Peep the details…

Co-sponsored by Words Beats & Life (WBL) and the Future of Music Coalition (FoMC) and hosted by Busboys & Poets, this event will feature a national panel of hip-hop bloggers who will give information to those trying to be featured on hip-hop blogs about how to get the attention of these bloggers, optimize web presence, learn what bloggers seek when generating content, and how use technology in acceptable formats. We will also discuss pay-to-purchase sites (Band Camp, Itunes, Amazon, etc.): use ‘em or lose ‘em? Participants will walk away with a comprehensive list of potential hip-hop music blogs where they can find and post music by independent artists.

In the second half of this presentation, FoMC will educate the bloggers and audience about legislation and policies currently affecting them and we will address the question: How can we leverage the success of these blogs for social change?

I salute WBL for being proactive and organizing this event so that a next generation of web users can learn to take their futures into their own hands. We’ll be a few blocks away from the Howard University campus so I hope the 2010 Puff Daddy’s take a minute to come thru and talk with Mek, Frank and me about finding that next next.

MightyHealthy: Delancey Street…

Dana Dane – ‘Delancey Street’

MightyHealthy has a nice little sample sale poppin’ off on Orchard Street. Back in the day this was the strip where you copped all your fly gear. Your leather bomber, your Kangol, your suede Pumas. You had better watch your step too because there would be random wolfpacks that were looking for a vic(tim).

If you see someone walking on Delancey Street now with a Kangol and Pumas they could be either a crackhead just home from a 25yr bid or a hipster. Avoid this person regardless. Make a bee-line to the Reed Space Annex at 151 Orchard and hang out with 40 Diesel while you copp some fly gear.

mh

Dumb rappers still need teaching and now they might could learn better with the 3M on the letters.

mh

The Mighty spell out hoody. F.R.E.S.H.

mh

Oh snap! MH got a K-Swiss hoody? The cotton was dope and the zipper pocket was a nice detail. Let me find out MH getting their high design on the low crackin’ off?

mh

MH fitteds are the minimum mandatory chapeaus for those in the know.

mh

MightyHealthy hasn’t forgotten their roots either. I need to copp a deck just because they are so effin’ dope.

There’s more pieces like jeans and jackets at the MH sample sale, but the pop-up shop is only poppin’ off until Sunday so hop the F train to Delancey Street if you’re still a player, or the J/Z if your a hipster.

Hard Roc Rap…

roc marc

I slept hard on Roc Marciano. Robbie over at UnKut asked me a while ago if I knew dude since we live so damn close to one another, but I didn’t know who dude was. This dude is just plain niiiiice.

The rap narrative was a lost art with today’s emcees. Sing song rappers can make a narrative track, but when is the last time I heard a dude spit lava and paint a real picture of the ‘hood?

I deserve the ultimate late pass because Roc Marce is killing shit. The only way I can pay this dude back is by making sure I copp his joint the minute it drops.

assquatch

I should have some more BCC music to post on these drops after tonight. Steele is having a listening session for his latest project ‘AmeriKKKa’s Nightmare Pt.2‘.

This winter has made me appreciate my Timberland collection more than ever. The weather had broken for a few days so I could wear some of my winter sneakers but the forecast is wet and cold for the next few days so don’t be surprised when I dig in the crates for more classics from Timberland.

The pair I’m featuring now was a Marshall’s @ Atlantic Terminal come up. I stay on my greedy grind for deals that are too good to be beat and these trail runners were holding a $25 clearance tag. I don’t know from where they came since I know they hadn’t been in this store previously, or any Marshall’s that I cruise thru in BK or LI.

These joints are called Trailscapes and they are Timberland’s offering to the outdoor set that likes to get all cardio in the mountains. I’m not so much a trail runner as I am a stream dancer. Sure, I’ll climb a rock or two and if we end up walking for hours so be it, but I don’t run. EVAR. That pic above was taken catching the rarely seen woodland beast Assquatch. That is NOT me. These shoes however, are me.

The Trailscape is lightweight and the upper is made of this breathable mesh. The shoes aren’t made to be totally waterproof but rather water-resistant. The suede mudguard keeps the nasty water from getting into the shoes and the mesh upper keeps out the dirt and the rocks. Thre Trailscapes are actually better for biking than they are for running because of the stiff forefoot plate that is built into the outsole. More Vibram patented rubber for the outsole as I see that Timberland trusts them to make the most durable and aggressive components for their shoes.

I think the Trailscapes might be in Filene’s Basement because I don’t ever see them in the TJX stores that I frequent. Copp them if you see them in your area for cheap ($40 and under). They are long wearing and comfortable shoes no matter what Sean Price says.
