DirtyJerz’ Remix Request Drop…

DirtyJerz is one of the commentors on this page that always puts his money where his mouf is [ll]. I can extra appreciate that since fam-a-lam isn’t even working right now. Everytime he sends me a package [ll] he str8 laces me. So when the homey puts in a request for some remixes we have the staff over here at DP.com get right to it. The staff of course being me.

DirtyJerz, it’s ya’ berfday. And you know we don’t give a fux…

The Boot Camp Clique Chronicles…

I dug into the archives for a pair of high boots that were relatively light weight. The mountaineering boots can stop a blizzard, but when you need to keep it moving and hitting up several spots they will give you the lead foot.

The choice was simple. The 6″ field boot is perfect for navigating snow drifts and still light and flexible enough not to make your feet feel tired from walking. These boots really came in handy this weekend as the ICs walked the expansive perimeter of the Atlantic Yards development site.

The waterproof status of the field boot is unquestionable. The best part of the field boot is its wide and thick sole which grips the ground with surety and stability. The flexibility of the field boots allows you to be super active while wearing them.

Peep the D-ring lacing system. This helps the quick tie-up and release.

The look of this pair is dope. The contrast stitching really sets off the all black leather and mesh upper. No wonder I found another pair of these same exact boots deadstocked in my archive. I must have copped these on some super sale. I have a new habit of keeping a receipt in my shoeboxes so I can remind myself of how much I paid retail for an item.

The little Timberland button on the ankle used to say ‘Gore-Tex’ on the OG field boots. I imagine that Timberland got tired of paying the Gore family for their proprietary fabric so they are now producing their own insulating materials.

I’ve hopefully found someone from the corporate side of Tim who knows their products even better than I do. I’ll let y’all know what comes of the convo.

The Association 2010: Fastrack To Futility…

Nets fans were surely still celebrating the team’s 6th win coming against the Boston Celtics so you might could imagine a let down was inevitable when the Nets matched up with the morale depleted and manpower decimated Washington Wizards.

Wiz guard Randall Foye who grew up in Newark decided to punish the Nets. Can you imagine how hard dude would have gone in[ll] if the Nets played in the Prudential Center on Market Street in downtown Newark? Sonn would have been a monster.

Why aren’t the Nets playing in Newark anyhoo? The Prudential Center was built for an economical $375M. That might be the reason the Nets haven’t moved their yet. Their ownership is trying to squeeze more money from the taxpayers for their subpar product.

That figures, isn’t that how Jay-Z sold the Blueprint 3.

BTW, scoring streak aside. Kevin Durant is the Association’s MVP this year.

Ernie P is a big fan of DP.com and one of the most understated historians of my lifetime. Is it because he has faithfully documented Hip-Hop history, as opposed to rock music or jazz? Is it because he has lived a life of talking truth to power? Is it because Ernie can be a surly curmudgeon when he senses a lack of sincerity in others?

The answer is all of the above.

I’m lucky ro call Ernie my friend even tho’ he will spit flames in my comments section over my sneaker collection or my appreciation of the 808s & Heartbreak album. Notwithstanding, Ernie Paniccioli has dedicated a lifetime to documenting the American experience for all peoples of color no matter their level of celebrity or notoriety.

I say all of this because I would like you to consider Ernie’s art if you have a few coins available to you. Ernie has several photobooks self-published on Lulu.com and I promise you they are the best history lesson you can receive on Hip-Hop.
