Get Ready For Clark Kent…

Friday, July 27th, 2012

What’s cray is that we sat with Clark Kent for a couple of hours and didn’t even get close to talking about his presence within the sneaker game. Dude is THAT deep in the history of rap and Hip-Hop. Listen…

Everlasting, Like The Toes on Pro-Keds…

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

Pro-Keds were the first pair of sneakers I ever had. Seeing them reminds me of stickball and summertime. Old heads like myself remember the blue/red tabs on the midsole very well.

Pro-Keds had a nifty collaboration earlier this summer with the Louisville Slugger brand.

Pro-Keds takes their respect for baseball heritage a step further with their dedication to Jackie Robinson of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The classic Pro-Keds Royal gets the royal treatment with suede and an embroidered ID on the heel.

Don’t step on my blue suede shoes.

The Dark Knight Rules…

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

In Batman #244 we find him smitten with the daughter of Ra’as Al’Ghul. I can remember keenly getting a chubby reading this book and seeing this image at the ending. Batman was ’bout to get himself some pussy.

In the latest Batman movie, the final installment under the creative direction of Chris Nolan we get to see the return of Talia Al’Ghul to the Batman universe. She isn’t smoking hot anymore, but she is still the bomb (nuclear). Batman’s nemesis for this movie is the supervillain Bane. Well, this sounds like the way to end a groundbreaking trilogy. With a bang.

The Dark Knight Rises sisn’t suck and that is the most important thing you can do in a cinematic trilogy. Let’s be honest, nothing, nothing, NOTHING, is gonna be more hardbody than The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger’s Joker was that of legend. Nolan certainly understand the darkness that the Batman character deserved after years of campy, cheeky caricatures. My only complaints of this movie amount to style points but not to storyline.

Did you peep the references to central intelligence agency hired ‘contractors’ biting off more than they could chew in the opening scene? There were several references to the world we live in that made me laugh at the idea that Batman, like Tony Stark’s industrialist persona are both weapons dealers. These heroes are totally duplicitous problems. They put guns in the streets just to give themselves the work of trying to get guns off the streets.

Our real world totally intersected with the depravity of Gotham City and I feel like the Joker finally won. People are afraid of one another again, and worse, kids trying have fun doing cosplay will be subject to stop and frisk scrutiny. The Batman trilogy didn’t end with the Dark Knight Rises, but our American innocence did, if you were paying close attention.
