SNW FTW…

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Smif N Wesun’s new project with Pete Rock is more than monumental. It is historical. SNW is so representative of their label DuckDown because they haven’t left the game. I’m sorry that I never look at SNW at one of rap’s greatest all-time duos because they haven’t left rap alone, the game needs them.

The game needs this album. Pete Rock’s percussion driven sound is a perfect match for the hard lyrics which Tek And Steele employ. This is the kind of music you listen to on your Sony Walkman with the headphones that have scotch tape holding them together. But it doesn’t sound like 1992 rap music. You just happen to still have a cassette player with scotch taped headphones.

The Monumental album is more like a house party for rappers who spit hard shit hosted by the Cocoa Bruvas. Ruck and Rock from Heltah Skeltah come over to party at different times. So does Styles P and Freeway. Memphis Bleek has a feature on this album and it might just be his hardest verse evar. This is backpack hoody rap for the grown ups and kids alike.

DuckDown Records will own the month of June with the release of the Random AXE album, Skyzoo’s mixtape ‘The Great Debaters’ and this monumental Smif N Wessun x Pete Rock collaboration.

Kiss Of Death To Mets’ Season…

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Fred Wilpon, the owner of the New York Mets went on a tirade with a reporter and threw some of his teams better players under the bus. The funny thing is that most Mets fans will agree with his assessment of his team and the players in question.

I been knew David Wright wasn’t THE dude. I been knew Jose Reyes wasn’t THE kid. I been knew that Carlos Beltran wasn’t THE man. What I didn’t know was that the Mets were so deep in their pockets to Bernie Madoff that his ponzi scheme collapse would cripple this team worse than if Isiah Thomas had been the general manager.

The Mets took $5.9million due to Bobby Bonilla in 1999 and stretched it into 25 annual $1million payments. WTF?!? Oh I get it. The interest and returns on that $5.5 was going to pay for the Bonilla annuity payment. Bernie Madoff literally made the fux off. Wilpon has taken an emergency loan from MLB to cover some of his operating costs but the clock is ticking on his line of credit.

Looks like the Mets will be under new off field management before the season ends.

Sinning And Winning For The Rapture…

Friday, May 20th, 2011

In just 24 hours the rapture will be upon mankind. No, not a Blondie reunion concert, but the whole rapture from the book of Revelations with the pale white horse and the cataclysmic catechism.

It kind’a sux that the Internets Celebrities are rolling out a brand new series of films on June 1st because some of you folks won’t be around to see them. We put our hearts and souls into these movies when we prA’li should have been spending that time in church.

Just know that the I.C.s will be on the team that is fighting against the armies of Satan and pretty much anyone trying to hate on the internets. If this is mankind’s final stand then at least feel good about us because we are bringing truth to power, and power to the people.

Actually, we’re kind of illuminating…

Summer In The City…

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

The two best things about the 2011 summer will be the Internets Celebrities video series – ‘I.C. NYC’ and CityParks Foundation’s SummerStage lineups throughout the city. For over twenty years CityParks Foundation has produced outdoor free concerts in NYC. They are responsible for some of the best concerts I have ever been to.

This summer will be no different and I’ve highlighted some of the performances where I will definitely be in effect with a picnic basket and a bottle or two of that rozay [ll].

Got Sneakerpedia?

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Sneaker culture always seems like its too personal to find a connect to the masses. No one understand why people line up outside of FootLocker for shoes that aren’t being sold for several days. Hypebeasts that do stunts like camp out in front of stores are a small percentage of the heads who wear kicks, but that behavior certainly got the notice of corporate America.

How can these uber-collectors be cloned, or better still infect the rest of the population into becoming hypebeasts? FootLocker took a step in that direction with the new website Sneakerpedia. Think of this site as the Wikipedia for sneakers. I fuxed with the page one afternoon and lost four hours in the nostalgia of all the sneakers I’ve owned. If you consider yourself a sneaker head you will fux with this site.
