Approaching it’s third annual broadcast, the VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors might be the greatest Hip-Hip program ever produced. The formula of featuring new emerging talent along with honored performers has made it the one show that hasn’t reduced rap music to minstrelsy and cornball posturing. I admit that the hosting can get better, but who can argue with the talent that has been on display since their first broadcast? If you just arrived in America from say, Nebraska, and you wanted to know what Hip-Hop music was about then the Hip-Hop Honors program is your 101 class.
Past honorees have included Public Enemy, KRS-1, Grandmaster Flash, LL Cool J, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Kool Herc, Salt-n-Pepa, RUN D.M.C., and Ice motherfuckin’ Tee. This years’ show looks like it’s going to be the best one yet with LIL’KIM honoring MC LYTE. ICE CUBE, WU-TANG, RAKIM, EAZY-E, the BEASTIE BOYS and the great AFRIKA BAMBAATA are all being honored and/or performing as well as DIDDY, LIL’ JON, FAT JOE, REMY MA, YOUNG JEEZY, XZIBIT, COMMON and Q-TIP. I smell a DILLA tribute inside of this program that you don’t want to miss. Even my funky uncle, GEORGE CLINTON is scheduled to perform.
Forget a BET Awards or a VMA, what you really want to watch is VH-1’s Hip-Hop Honors premiering Tuesday, October 17. And starting on Friday, September 15, VSPOT, VH-1’s broadband channel will launch a dedicated Hip Hop channel with extensive on-demand music playlists from this year’s “VH-1 Hip-Hop Honors” honorees. The channel will be programmed with additional content throughout September and October and will include honoree profiles and exclusive programming and performances from the on-air broadcast of the show.
A few weeks ago CURTIS JACKSON considered embroiling himself in a beef with the King of All Jigs over weedcarrier MASE’s status with G-Unit. Good thing for FIDDY that his handlers gave him another scheme to get promotion.
The last person in Hip-Hop that you want to fuck with sideways is PUFF DIDDY. He has single handedly ruined the careers of countless rappers, producers and staffers within the entertainment industry. We all know where B.I.G. is now, but what about CRAIG MACK, SUPERCAT, TOTAL, SHYNE, BLACK ROB and the irrepressible SUGE KNIGHT? It’s gotten so bad for LOON that he has taken to doing barbershop holdups in Harlem.
From a business aspect FIDDY is a maverick Hip Hop impresario for channeling his thug character into book deals and feature length films, but FIDDY’s character has a shelf life. DIDDY however, is built to last. He might very well be Hip-Hop’s QUINCY JONES. There was never an artist that Q couldn’t take production credits from. Just saying good morning to Q at the office meant that you owed him points off your album. Until DIDDY came along there was no other producer that actually produced less. Still there is one ability that DIDDY possesses that not even the great Q can do.
DIDDY can resurrect himself from the dead.
Do you know how many times DIDDY has been thrown under the bus only to get back up again? At this point you have to reognize that he is the greatest negro ever second only to Jesus Christ and even J.C. couldn’t bring himself back to life as often as PUFF.

Everybody is making all kinds of noise about the new season for HBO’s ‘The Wire’ series so I won’t even talk about the show other than to say it’s almost as real as these pictures.
These flicks are from one of the great events that took place this past summer – a ‘hood wedding. These events happen all across America, but rarely do you have the array of photographs that show the love that that these two people bring to film (or digital memory cards). Everything is included from ex-convict uncles to a plethora of illegimate children and even an appearance by the Queen Bee herself, LIL’ KIM.
