The Dark Knight Rules…

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

In Batman #244 we find him smitten with the daughter of Ra’as Al’Ghul. I can remember keenly getting a chubby reading this book and seeing this image at the ending. Batman was ’bout to get himself some pussy.

In the latest Batman movie, the final installment under the creative direction of Chris Nolan we get to see the return of Talia Al’Ghul to the Batman universe. She isn’t smoking hot anymore, but she is still the bomb (nuclear). Batman’s nemesis for this movie is the supervillain Bane. Well, this sounds like the way to end a groundbreaking trilogy. With a bang.

The Dark Knight Rises sisn’t suck and that is the most important thing you can do in a cinematic trilogy. Let’s be honest, nothing, nothing, NOTHING, is gonna be more hardbody than The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger’s Joker was that of legend. Nolan certainly understand the darkness that the Batman character deserved after years of campy, cheeky caricatures. My only complaints of this movie amount to style points but not to storyline.

Did you peep the references to central intelligence agency hired ‘contractors’ biting off more than they could chew in the opening scene? There were several references to the world we live in that made me laugh at the idea that Batman, like Tony Stark’s industrialist persona are both weapons dealers. These heroes are totally duplicitous problems. They put guns in the streets just to give themselves the work of trying to get guns off the streets.

Our real world totally intersected with the depravity of Gotham City and I feel like the Joker finally won. People are afraid of one another again, and worse, kids trying have fun doing cosplay will be subject to stop and frisk scrutiny. The Batman trilogy didn’t end with the Dark Knight Rises, but our American innocence did, if you were paying close attention.

SNEAKER FIENDS UNITE!

Friday, July 20th, 2012

Wasn’t it just two(2) weeks ago that Jordan Brand dropped the ‘Olympic’ VI’s? Well pictured above are the Barcelona 7s from USA Basketball’s 1992 Dream Team run. Only Jordan wore Air Jordan back then and Jordan wore out Croatia’s Toni Kukoc who would later become his teammate in Chicago.

Folks are lined up as usual but this time I will visit another store which I haven’t given the time of day recently – Modell’s. They will host a midnight release at their Times Square store so I’ll be right back on the Deuce after just leaving the screening of the Dark Knight Rises(meh).

While heads are hyping for the 7s I’ma try and see if I can track down one more pair of the Jordan 2012 ‘Year Of The Dragon’. The shoe was criminally slept on this year. If I can’t find another pair of 2012 YOTD’s I’ll prA’Li thirst out the Barcelonas, or maybe not. Stay tuned sneaker fiends.

Get Ready For Rap Radar…

Friday, July 20th, 2012

I’m really not try’na feel a way that Rap Radar doesn’t have me listed in their blogroll, but what have I done for them anyhoo? Rap Radar isn’t into your struggle. They only want your triumph and your repeated triumph at that. Don’t holler at them if you’ve only won once or twice in your life.

Rap Radar doesn’t fux with losers like El-P or DOOM because these rap cats don’t win majorly. If your rap doesn’t glow in the dark you won’t get picked up by the Rap Radar. Combat Jack has to do another episode with Rap Radar’s Brian ‘B-Dot’ Miller to really understand why he doesn’t fux with Earl Sweatshirt.

There’s lots more treats in this episode of the Combat Jack Show… Fred The Godson spits some hot verses, Artie Lange talks about being arrested in Paris, and we even propose a new career path for the rapper Papoose… Pupuserias. Get ready for Combat, Internets.

Matt Raz put this in my earhole today [ll] but he only had a snippet at first which featuring that stupid line about having “Asian like the bitches tied up in Dante Ross basement”. LOL. Dante Ross do keep a bad Asian broad too.

Peace to Khal from Rock the Dub for always having the good links for the internets.

Lunchroom Battles feat Nas and Akinyele…

Tuesday, July 17th, 2012

Via my big homey Gudtyme SoundCloud page…

“In the summer of 1991, I was chilling at my boy DJ Johnny Wishbone’s crib. He was making a mixtape. This was a gem from that day. Akinyele and Nas doing their”Live at the BBQ” routine. Luckily I still have this copy. Finding it inspired me to create a mix called LUNCHROOM BATTLES. This is a collection of old school hip hop battles and freestyles that I have on my old dusty cassette tapes. Enjoy…”
