Touchdown Jesus’ Texas Condo…

cowboy stadium

I’m a Cowboys fan, but their new stadium is a disgusting waste of taxpayer money. I’m surprised that it went down in Texas so easily by allowing the local government to spike the taxes, albeit the taxes on tourism. I thought that the conservative body politic in Texas wasn’t for all this excess taxation? That is the appeal of gaining what I call ‘Stadium Status’. People want to have any association whatsoever with these now billion dollar capital construction clusterfucks.

The new Cowboys Stadium takes the cake in my opinion. At nearly a billion and a half dollars this beast of a building is named after a team that will play at best a dozen games in the building annually. Think about that for a minute. Eight regular season home games. Two preseason games and two playoff games if they’re that good. Is it any wonder that the Yankees and the Cowboys are the two wealthiest sports franchises in America? Here are some of the financial details on Cowboys Stadium…

  • Originally estimated to cost $650 million, the stadium’s current construction cost has been pegged between $1.3 and $1.5 billion, making it one of the most expensive sports venues ever built
  • The City of Arlington provided over $933 million (including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns. The NFL also provided the Cowboys with an additional $150 million, as per their policy for giving teams a certain lump sum of money for stadium financing
  • The average ticket to a Cowboys game costs $159.65, a record for the Fan Cost Index survey, which dates to 1991. The New England Patriots previously had the priciest ticket in pro sports and that cost remained the same at $117.84
  • There is the $150,000 down payment required of season-ticket holders for 30 years of seats — which doesn’t include ticket prices
  • Suites will range from $100,000 to $500,000 per year. That lease will include tickets to Cowboys games, but not third-party events
  • On October 20, 2008, Cowboys owner Jones and New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner announced a joint business venture called Legends Hospitality Management LLC which would operate the concessions and merchandising sales at the new Cowboys stadium and at the new Yankee Stadium, along with the stadiums of the Yankees’ minor league affiliates
  • Former Pizza Hut President Michael Rawlings will run the company from its new headquarters in Newark, New Jersey. The company was also backed by Wall Street investment firm Goldman Sachs and Dallas private equity firm CIC Partners LP
  • According to the Cowboys, the 20-inch pizzas at the new stadium will cost $60. There will be five different types of pizza available for that price.
  • Fortunately, beer will still be sold for only $5
  • Jones’ Cowboys and Steibrenner’s Yankees might be the only people not named CitiBank, JP Morgan, Bank of America, AIG, Lehman Brothers or General Motors who can have their corporate homes subsidized by taxpayers to the tune of over a billion dollars. The socialism in America certainly exists for billionaires. I wonder if the Mexican maintenance workers in the new Cowboys Stadium have health insurance? They prA’li don’t. This is why I’m fuxing with the Jets hardbody this season. At least they have the goods sense to share a building with some other teams.

    Rebuilding Newark, Brick By Brick…

    paramount

I have a special connection to Newark, New Jersey. I feel this city as if it were my home. The architecture of downtown Newark is so familiar to me. This was how NYC looked before all the steel and glass mirrors started to hide the fact that NYC had lost its soul sometime around the GIULIANI regime. Newark was like Detroit to me because it still retained it height and magnificence even through its depression.

The Newark Museum of Art was the first museum to embrace the Internets Celebrities. They cited our film ‘Bodega’ during their prestigious if not overcrowded Paul Robeson Awards ceremony. Newark retains a blue collar aesthetic the same way Philadelphia does. It is no small wonder to me then that Dice Raw of the legendary, hardest working band of all time Roots crew was tabbed to compose the theme to the Sundance Channel’s documentary about the rebuilding city’s inner struggle.

Dice Raw & Khari Mateen – ‘Brick By Brick’

The Brick City documentary mini-series features some of Newark’s soldiers from the young mayor CORY BOOKER, to the police chief to Blood and Crip and Blood gang members who are on the frontlines of the poverty and desperation within Newark’s ghettos. I’m hype for this program as the alternative to all the talk that ‘The Wire’ had generated in examining and exposing the urban phenomena created by capitalism over the past 40 years. Since the murder of MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr. the urban center has been abandoned by industry and the government. The story of Brick City is no different than that of Philadelphia, Baltimore, East St.Louis, Detroit and ALL of Ohio.

Those of us born into the full threshold of urban decay are now old enough and strong enough to progressively change our environs. The process is lengthy and arduous but we must rebuild our cities with our own hands. Brick by brick…

JOE WILSON: Putting the butch in the bench

No one would even think of jumping bad with G DUBBZ since DICK CHENEY was on record for shooting his own friend in the face.

If this administration is going to get the hardbody status JOE BIDEN needs to shank somebody.

POLITRICKS: An Idiot And His Ego…

    Thursday, September 10th, 2009

One of the House of Reps from South Carolina forgot to check his Confederate flag at the door of the Senate chamber. Watch this YouTube clip where JOE WILSON tells the president he is “a liar”. In all actuality I’m sure that EVERYONE in that room is a liar and certainly they are all cowards as well, but WILSON found the courage to do what no Rep or Senator has done ever in our country’s history. WILSON has publicly chastised the president before a broadcast joint session of Congress.

This wasn’t someone in a townhall meeting with a handscrawled sign saying “Don’t Tread On Me”. This was bureaucratic fratricide during WILSON’s bemusement. What exactly did WILSON think would come of this? Between the politicians that have wavered in their support of the president for his message to America’s schoolkids on the benefits of education to this ill-timed and poorly planned public outburst the enemies of BARACK OBAAMA have chosen a bad time to have a brain fart. America is not being put first.

Luckily for Rep. JOE WILSON and his family America is not a socialist nation where idiotcrats have to literally fall on their swords when they have a major PU~. America is the land of the second chance even when a person’s heart is as remarkably soiled as JOE WILSON’s is. I hope he goes into rehab for his drinking problem and I hope that he gains a modicum of civility for the duration of his time in public office. I’m not disappointed for WILSON because I didn’t believe that he was better than this anyhoo. I hope his family and those that love him get over their embarrassment.
