Rap Genius came thru mobbed up for their appearance on the Combat Jack Show. A motley crew of nerds and geeks ready to profess their love for learning the nuances of rap music. Privileged douchebags? Yeah sure, but smart kids with a billion dollar vision.
Rap should be happy these kids chose them. Or not.
Combat Jack has invited the fuckybergs from Rap Genius to be guests on his podcast. Rap Genius took the baton from rap lyrics database OHHLA and went even further by using the actual songwriters to transcribe their own rap songs.
Make no mistake however, Rap Genius is part of the history of cultural carpetbaggers who appropriate shit until they have exploited it past its usefulness. Rap Genius doesn’t care about Hip-Hop. Rap Genius BARELY can be concerned with rap. Rap Genius’ concerns are pageviews and that type of fucky shit.
Rap Genius exploited Chief Keef to make this webvideo. These are the types of people who control rap music these days. They are 180 degrees from being Hip-Hop and they could care less. Get ready for Combat…
The Internets Celebrities latest and greatest video takes to the streets to get the 4-1-1 on the subject of why voting still matters. Some of you may be suffering from voting fatigue at this point, but stay strong and stay the course. People got merc’ked for us to have the privilege even if it’s all just a ruse.
The Internets Celebrites were dead in the water a few months ago, but now we are back like cooked up crack. Tell a friend to tell a friend.
The Cancer 4 Cure album from El-P is still on the top of my list for 2012 because it’s so far out musically what you might expect a hardcore rap album to be. Plus I think El-P’s production also brings out a mean chamber from Killer Mike.
I put this clip together after the storm…
This cut from C4C features Killer Mike and DefJux enigma Despot. The best part of all this is that El-P hit me up and asked me what I would do with Tougher Colder if I had a budget?
Mass Appeal’s CMJ 2012 showcase was prA’Li the only rap show I NEEDED to attend this year. Everyone whom I fux with and wants to fux with was up in that piece.
Roc Marciano, Alchemist, Action Bronson, Meyhem Lauren, Timeless Truth, Mr. MFN eXquire… Listen, EVERYBODY was there!
The shit felt like a homecoming for all degenerate fans of rap music. The people whom rap music taught how to do the soulclap and then subsequently gave them the clap and various other STD’s. Here we all were, still loving this beautiful whore called rap music. Still try’na kiss her on the mouf.
I hope you live as long as I have Internets. Long enough to confuse music festivals with one another. A3C or Jack The Rapper? College Music Journal or New Music Seminar? Spoonie G or Rakim? Rakim or NaS. NaS or Roc Marciano. It. Does. Not. Stop.
