The Children Of OutKast…

spree wilson

I love talking shit about OutKast not being the greatest rap duo of all time, but at the end of the day you can see their DNA on all of your favorite popular music rap acts of today. Drake, Cudi, B.o.B. and the Weeknd are all the children of OutKast (particularly 3000). I have to add another name to that list – Spree Wilson.

Spree is also from Atlanta by way of Memphis and he has that laid back Tennessee blues vibe to his sound. But it is from the godhead of Andre 3K where I can see the influence evolution of Spree Wilson. The rhythm and movement is definitely that 2015 Marty McFly Back 2 The Future Dungeon Family flow.

I’m going to post a few of my favorite songs from his album ‘The Never Ending Now‘ but I suggest you click the link and download the complete album for yourself. Music should make you feel good for just being yourself. That is the shit what Spree Wilson is on and I fux with that.

Gaberockka would approve of this music

I’m laughing that I fux with this corny ass track. This dude swagjacks Cudi, Drake, Lil’ B, Tyler the Creator and appropriates a line from Kreayshawn. LOLOLOLOL.

But here I am spinning this shit and loving it. SMH

Respect The Architects…

corbusier

When I had dreams of being an architect I was completely in awe of a French urbanist named Le Corbusier. He was an architect and a writer and a painter and basically just the shit. Le Corbusier used all his experiences and spirituality in his designs. His goal was to make life better for anyone who came in contact with his art.

Le Corbusier is the founder of modern architecture’s clean and somewhat sterile presentations and symmetrical proportions. He envisioned modern cities with towering residential skyscrapers and sprawling green spaces at their bases. Co-Op City would have been a triumph of the Le Corbusier vision if capitalism and poverty hadn’t gotten in the way.

If economics and race weren’t so important to maintaining the class hegemony here and abroad the Le Corbusier designs would have been magnificent. Architectural critics like to sound off on Le Corbusier’s designs as if he meant for them to segregate people from one another but that was never his aim. Le Corbusier wanted the modern city to be an independent, sustainable model that supported all modes of functions and means of transportation, especially the pedestrian.

This apartment complex in Marseilles, France is one of my favorite projects which he completed. You can see his adoption of the Mondrian primary color neoplasticism style in the facade’s design. Corbusier also designed furniture which borrowed from this rigid Dutch artform but Le Corbusier gave his furniture a softer feel with rounded shapes and edges. The poured concrete forms are indicative of the type of architecture America would produce throughout the 1960s.

I’d like to think that I bring a planned aesthetic to the outfit architecture that I compose from time to time. I understand context and revel in history as my method for building my swag. I also respect the architects because they understand the importance of knowing a little bit. About a LOT of things.

Peep Damien Richard’s website…

I work with this brother during the day and I could tell he was not just a regular cat. His swag was definitely on some original individual shit. Young boys like him usually wear Air Jordans and not adidas. I figured he was one of those Black nerd dudes listening to some Radiohead and schtooping that snowflake poonanny. Hey, that’s what I’d do.

A few months ago I asked him what he had planned for his weekend and he told me he was going to be performing at a spot downtown called Pianos. “Oh shit, I fux with Piano’s my nig”, I told him trying to sound like I was cool too. He told me to come thru, and I swear I would have if I wasn’t busy that night chasing around drugs like a shermhead.

I bet Damien’s show was filled in the audience with all the fly chicks I see him macking at the dayjob. I suppose it’s just as well I didn’t fall thru. These chicks don’t even wanna let an old fat nigga like me sniff they bloomeristicks. I might should just stay in my home on Fridays, fuxing with the internets, and getting high.

pollyn

Roc Marciano isn’t like most rappers who are afraid to collaborate with non-HipHop acts because Roc has no fear and only one gear which points him towards going hard or getting the fux out the game.

Peep this joint with Roc Marciano lacing the track from the L.A. trio Pollyn’s latest project. They call this joint ‘Cold Sweat’.
