SNEAKER FIENDS UNITE!

KixPo was all of that and a pair of deadstock Foamposites. I was so hype from this trip that as soon as I touched down in NYC I had to copp the yellow Foamposites.

There was no way I was going to get my sneakergame up to the professional level that some of these folks were holding, but gosh darn it I’m def gonna try. I’m talking about ridiculous amount of heat and fireworks. These cats HAVE to still be living in their mom’s basements to afford all this shit.

Everything is bigger in Texas [ll] and that means the hospitality from the event promoters as well. As a part of the DuckDown entourage we were shuttled to and from the ginormous Cowboys Stadium (which looked like a spaceship that had landed) to the hotel. The overall experience guaranteed my return for next year’s KixPo.

Let’s also agree that Sean Price should have his own television show where he uses his slanguage to describe the world around him. Sean is a brilliant wordsmith which has led to him being a favorite emcee, but his personality is too engaging for just rap alone. Enjoy these clips Internets. #SneakerFiendsUnite

Nike is back on their Disney-esque hype machine steez. The film company funded by Phil Knight, the Swoosh founder is back with another animated feature. Remember Coraline? Well now we have a paranormal sleuth by the name of ParaNorman.

And just like the movie Coraline, Nike is doing an exclusive sneaker release tie-in with the film, but instead of the iconic Dunk style this exclusive release is a hypebeast’s wetdream. The Foamposite.

FIYAHVERKX!!!

In order to secure one of the 800 pairs made for this lightning strike promotion you have to enter a social media contest.

Get Ready For Clark Kent…

Friday, July 27th, 2012

What’s cray is that we sat with Clark Kent for a couple of hours and didn’t even get close to talking about his presence within the sneaker game. Dude is THAT deep in the history of rap and Hip-Hop. Listen…

I kept my shit eye level for this latest Air Jordan retro release. I like the 7s, but not more than the 6s and if I had my choice I would score another pair of the Olympic 6s before I shell out for the Barcelona 7s. Yeah, yeah I know, “Jordan WORE the Barcelona 7s!”. Shut the fux up already!

I’m promising myself that I won’t do anymore lineup release videos because I feel like I might be a part of the problem why people are hyping over sub-par shoes. Maybe if I stopped caring then so would the kids? Ha! That will never happen since the machine put in place to make these kids nutts isn’t gonna stop hyping this shit up.

Sneakers might be the perfect storm of Madison Avenue marketing meets nostalgia. I catch the fever just like every other American. Now please watch my version of anti-hype HYPE.

The Dark Knight Rules…

Tuesday, July 24th, 2012

In Batman #244 we find him smitten with the daughter of Ra’as Al’Ghul. I can remember keenly getting a chubby reading this book and seeing this image at the ending. Batman was ’bout to get himself some pussy.

In the latest Batman movie, the final installment under the creative direction of Chris Nolan we get to see the return of Talia Al’Ghul to the Batman universe. She isn’t smoking hot anymore, but she is still the bomb (nuclear). Batman’s nemesis for this movie is the supervillain Bane. Well, this sounds like the way to end a groundbreaking trilogy. With a bang.

The Dark Knight Rises sisn’t suck and that is the most important thing you can do in a cinematic trilogy. Let’s be honest, nothing, nothing, NOTHING, is gonna be more hardbody than The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger’s Joker was that of legend. Nolan certainly understand the darkness that the Batman character deserved after years of campy, cheeky caricatures. My only complaints of this movie amount to style points but not to storyline.

Did you peep the references to central intelligence agency hired ‘contractors’ biting off more than they could chew in the opening scene? There were several references to the world we live in that made me laugh at the idea that Batman, like Tony Stark’s industrialist persona are both weapons dealers. These heroes are totally duplicitous problems. They put guns in the streets just to give themselves the work of trying to get guns off the streets.

Our real world totally intersected with the depravity of Gotham City and I feel like the Joker finally won. People are afraid of one another again, and worse, kids trying have fun doing cosplay will be subject to stop and frisk scrutiny. The Batman trilogy didn’t end with the Dark Knight Rises, but our American innocence did, if you were paying close attention.
