Does the U.S. run this Olympics shit?!?

Hell yeah!

China was ranked number #1 because they came up on 51 gold medals, but the U.S. won in the overall total medal count 110-100. Russia came in third place while Great Britain and then Australia were in 4th and 5th place overall respectively.

Even though the U.S.’s overall medal count is impressive the 36 gold medals only represents 1/3 of that total.

Let’s shout out the countries who left Beijing only after winning gold.

Bahrain
Cameroon
Panama
Tunisia

Too bad those dudes only won one medal.

facebook

I have at least forty “Facebook Friends” named Shaniqua or a variation of that pronunciation. This has been a secret homage to my first girlfriend evar who was named SHAWNEQUA.

Guess who found my page on Facebook?

SHAWNEQUA!?!

The internets is some crazy shiite.

And even after being married with kids, official grey-green eyes won’t crack.

Evar.

angel

The Yankees playoff hopes and this dude are both beyond repair.

Just when I think that some Black dude has found the greatest WTF?!? moment along comes a Puerto Rican to snatch away his ghetto glory. The dude above had a final wish to be memorialized standing upright.

I can’t really hate on a player either since he is styling on fools with his Yankee fitted cap and his Jesus piece.

Can DC Do The Dark Knight Right?

I’m a little pissed off that people are talking about doing an adaptation of FRANK MILLER’s ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ without including a Robin character. The current director of the Batman cinematic series, CHRIS NOLAN, says he will jump off the project if he has to insert a Boy Wonder into the mix.

*Newsflash to CHRIS NOLAN: Go kill yourself bitch!

For starters, the Robin character from ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ is NOT a boy wonder, she’s a girl. Second, and more importantly, the character is crucial to the story.

The Robin character is Batman’s last link to his own humanity. Without that character to tether him to the ground he becomes this total maniac curmudgeon with no focus. The Robin character reminds Batman (or does she remind us) that everything he does is for the kids. Just like Wu Tang, but with way more broken necks.

In all the box office glee that ‘The Dark Knight’ has generated most people are starting to forget all the elements that made ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ storyline so incredible. I can flesh them out for you in five simple lines…

1. Batman = Hardbody deluxe curmudgeon
2. Robin = Eager young girl – perfect, who thought of this?
3. Joker = Batman with a better sense of humor
4. Catwoman = Definitely got smashed out in a three-way with BM and Joker
5. Superman = Super douchebag who deserves the ass kicking that Batman gives him

You can’t possibly fuck that storyline up if you address those elements with fidelity. I understand that everyone is all turned on by this portrayal of the Batman who doesn’t smile or crack jokes because he only cracks skulls. But if you read ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ as MILLER really wrote it you will see the humor within the depravity of the characters.

I’m not trying to return to the campy, cartoonish aspect of the Batman live features, but I want ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ to be made as awesome as the book(s) it is adapted from were written.

MARVEL COMICS STAYS WINNING…

hulk 181

At the height of my comic collection era I had four(4) copies of Hulk #181. This is the first issue that Wolverine appears in a comic storyline. I bought this comic at every turn of my economic fortune. From my first paper route up until the point I was traveling O.T. to Virginia and North Carolina with them “things”. I had the comic in several different grades. My mint condition copy was bomb-proofed in a mylar plastic bag with an acid-free backing board in a stiff vinyl sleeve.

When I had to sell off my collection my heart was broken in half to lose the copies of the JOHN BYRNE X-Men run, the FRANK MILLER Daredevil run, the NEAL ADAMS X-Men, the NEAL ADAMS Batman run, the one-offs and cameos of my favorite characters and artists in different titles. I was given several hundred bucks for well over a thousand issues with books like X-Men #94, Daredevil #158, Hulk #181 the individual Dark Knight Returns series and several more issues with multiple copies.

Marvel Comics is returning the love back to me and all of their classic storyline fans by creating direct to DVD animated origins episodes. COMBAT JACK sent me this link from a preview at ComicCon 2008…

Old fanboys like myself and young new stans can rejoice together as our favorite characters are pulled off the pages and given new life on the screens. And I don’t feel too bad about selling off all of my books now.
