The Greatest Yankee Of All Time…

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

Derek Jeter is a greater Yankee than Yogi, Mickey and Joe D. Jeter is even greater than Babe Ruth, who wasn’t a Yankee for his entire career. Derek Jeter has amassed his marvelous record playing all of his major league games in the world’s greatest city for the games most notorious owners.

I don’t fux with the Yankees like that but I will give props when due and Derek Jeter is the greatest player to rock the pinstripes of that storied franchise. Take a look at the other players to reach that rareified air Jeter exists in.

I want U 4 internets!

When George Bush said the word ‘Internets’ he was laughed at.

Now that Obaama is using it are we going to call him a visionary?

Nope, since he recanted just like his campaign promises.

It’s The ROC Bitches!

roc

Jay-Z’s peeps at Roc-A-Wear invited me to their NoLita pop-up space to preview the re-launch of the brand from it’s previous streetwear focus to an upscale men’s fashion line.

The only clothing brand which emerged from Hip-Hop that was able to legitimately cross that threshold was Sean John. Phat Farm and Karl Kani both had items which transcended their Hip-Hop roots but the lines themselves never went above them. That is definitely Roc-A-Wear’s aim this time around.

The folks from Roc-A-Wear were also generous enough to gift me with several items too so if you are someone on my snail mail list you might should watch the throne, er, your mailbox I meant.

Unicorn Lifestyle…

Part of the allure of the lifestyle to most of us collectors is the fact that Polo Ralph Lauren will distribute certain I.T.s to a certain region or country and the superior collectors will establish a chain that allows them contact with these faraway places. This way you can bust the skullcaps of your local circle with an I.T. they didn’t even know existed.

Make sure to visit my folks at Vintage Gear Addicts for their lifestyle drops.

One of the pieces that has attained mythical status in the lifestyle culture is the 5-7 patch longbill 92 Racing cap. The debate rages on how many patches this cap actually holds. The truth is that it may very well be a custom joint from the rip. The most enlightened lifestylers have been customizing their pieces with patches from their discarded schmedium I.T.s.

This is why I love rocking Polo Ralph Lauren pieces. The culture of collectors I fux with have devised our own narrative of the lifestyle all the while understanding that Ralph Lauren’s gentility is just as made up as our own. Actually, our narrative is better because we don’t ever think we might pass for Anglo-Saxon Europeans and we are cool with that. For me, it’s all about the colorway and my own #swag.

DP’s Rhythm & BBQ…

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

Your boy dP is here to add a little bit of this spice to your cookout today. Loose Ends was part of the British R&B invasion from the 1980s who made some funky, smoothed out, soulful grooves.

Put some of this sauce on your meat [ll]

‘Gonna Make You Mine’

‘Slow Down’

‘Stay A Little While Child’

And you know we have to drop the all time Loose Ends classic otherwise this would not be the official DP BBQ soundtrack…

‘Hanging On A String’
