I copped these Deion Sanders signature shoes because I saw the homey from The Shoe Game (G-Roc Smith) rocking these joints.

Combat Jack wants me to reclaim my comic nerd status so he has been pushing me to get back into reading comic books. I’m slowly coming back to the books but to be honest I don’t like the comic book universe as much as I did thirty years ago. Truthfully, after the death of Jean Grey and the murder of Elektra I prA’li can’t ever enjoy reading comics that much anymore.
Still I pick up books here and there when I see a cover that intrigues me or I flip through the trades whenever I’m in a library waiting for my turn on a computer (ugh, yes I’m a degenerate), but there really hasn’t been series that I’ve been intrigued by enough to follow at the comic book shop. Until…
Avengers versus X-Men. I never really liked the Avengers except when Neal Adams or John Byrne were on the pencils. The Avengers storylines were always meh to me. I liked some of the characters but they all seemed like they were forced together. The X-Men were more organic of a team. Their first plight was to save mutants from humankind which wanted to persecute them. The Avengers were like rockstars. No one really hated them other than bad guys. No one liked the X-Men.
Without giving away any spoilers to this new series opener I just have to comment on one thing. Why the fux does Captain America carry a gun now? To me he is no longer a superhero now that he uses a gun. Its not even a raygun. Captain America is just a regular ol’ cop now. The OG Captain America just had a shield and wild athleticism. This new Captain America could be George Zimmerman for all I know.
I wasn’t really into the writing or the artwork in the first issue but I’ll give the series a shot just like I did for Batman Odyssey which ultimately sucked the skin off a donkey’s sachs. I ended up buying the variant cover along with the first issue and both were $4 apiece. Take a look at this preview and if you fux with it maybe you’ll pick it up at your local shop. Ha. Who are you kidding? You’d steal money from out your mother’s purse first.
I’ve put a moratorium on all my derogatory and slanderous TWits aimed at Carmelo Anthony after his Easter Sunday ‘Miracle at MSG‘. The Knicks needed a savior and ‘Melo wound up playing the role of the big shot messiah. Who knows what will be the fate of these Knickerbockers for the month of April but yesterday afternoon was moment of blissful ecstasy that I’ll hold onto until the end of the regular season.
Maybe.
Carmelo played his greatest game as a Knick not just by having his career high as a Knickerbocker, but how he rallied the team with clutch shooting when everyone else couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean. And by everyone I mean Anthony’s former Denver teammate J.R. ‘Fancy Shoes’ Smith.
While the Knick win was exhilarating it also came with a price. The Knicks management granted media access to comedian Tracy Morgan so that he could assume the role of the greatest Knick that never was. Despite his efforts Dontrevius Wenters has no place with this organization. Maybe the Brooklyn Royale might could use a superstar to replace Deron Williams when he makes tracks after the season ends?
I just need someone to get the DW workout tape to Sean Carter.
Big up to iLLiLL who stays on me to keep the Lifestyle posts updated… He doesn’t contribute a single $1 to the prA’li fund tho’, but I’ll allow that his comments are an effective currency and drop motivator. So this is how I stepped out with Chocolate Snowflake on Easter Sunday.
We went to brunch at a local restaurant called Cheryl’s for their prix fixe fare and mimosas. The day was outrageously gorgeous and we both felt like walking around Brooklyn. I offered that we should take a trip to the DeKalb Market which is adjacent to the former Albee Square Mall site. I also had a pair of shoes with me which I wanted to shoot in a video with Fulton Mall as the backdrop.
The DeKalb Market was actually poppington and there was a booth selling $1 mimosas so I kept my drunken brunch fleaux in full effect. I didn’t dandy myself up this weekend since I haven’t been feeling to fresh to def lately. Y’all don’t need to hear my issues tho’ because I’m sure you don’t come here to feel worse either. LOL.
iLLiLL: As far as copping anything from the Commodoire series… Nope. I saw a few pieces I liked, but I didn’t press myself to spend on that series since I have so much shit already in my archives in the red, white and blue Americana colorways as you may have seen from the recent weblog posts. I might end up with something from the Commodore series if it filters down to the secondary outlets, but I’m still getting my chips together for more Modern Explorer I.T.’s.
The Brooklyn Museum of Art may have reached critical mass for their First Saturday events. This was the first time I can remember the doors being closed even before the dance party had started. What is this place gonna look like during the summer?
I met up with one of the producers from the Put This On web series and he was impressed with the number of people at the event and how many folks had come thru in their fanciest wares. I wasn’t going to overdo it on this evening because I fully expected to dance my ass off to deejay Junior Vasquez house mix, but the high heels were definitely up in the building.
The flash never lies as you can see I spilled something on my shirt. The trick to enjoying yourself at the museum is to bring yourself a flask or some sort of stowaway beverage because the line at the bar stay on bananas.
Call me a bird ass museum-goer since I didn’t even walk thru the Haring show. LOL. I’m actually having a small dinner party in May and I’ll be walking the exhibit then. I’ll prA’li have on another pair of Reeboks too. These kicks are so comfortable they are the perfect antidote for museum marble tile floors.
