cRap Music Fantasy League Q3 Update #2

remy mess

Remy Mess!

Dayum! I can’t even take off a weekend without some cRapper trying to kill someone just to raise their hardbody quotient. It had been a pretty slow news week as far as points makers were concerned in the cRap Music Fantasy League. Fisty finally got on the cRap Music scoring board and caught some points for his XXL magazine cover and his new video ‘I Get Money’ and T.I. added some more points to his overall score for his cover on Vibe mag. Look out for T.I. to receive his gold certification this week although I don’t imagine that even half the people that supposedly bought his album the first week will be lining up for the joint this week.

So Remy Martin gets herself into the action by attempting some murdahhhhhh! WTF?!? The story is that Remy Ma put her bag down while she was partying in a club in New York’s trendiest area, the Meatpacking district(extra nullus). When she retrieved her bag she was light on cash to the tune of $2000. I don’t know about y’all but two stacks is a serious piece of change for someone who hasn’t made a hit song in forever. That might be the last bit of homegirl’s ‘Lean Back’ scrilla. Remy then flipped on her homey assigned to hold her weed purse. When the smoke cleared Remy was indicted on several charges ranging from attempted homicide, to assault and possession of a firearm. You would have to agree this was an extra hardbody weekend for Remy Ma. What this will mean for her and the August release of her latest album, ‘The BX Files’, I can’t call it, but if Lil’ Kim’s stint in the Feds was any indication… Jail does not equal record sales. She won’t be smiling on Riker’s Island.

Let’s take a look at the leader board right now for the cRap Music Fantasy League…

bleek

It’s the ROC bitches!

cRap Music Moguls! What is the drilly? The first week of the DP Dot Com cRap Music Fantasy League has quietly come to a close. The cRapper points leader for a minute was Plies out of Florida. He scored a nice 250 for a download deal with Sprint Telecom.

This is the next step for cRappers and for the companies that want them to get to the next level. A cRapper can sign an exclusivity contract with a major Fortune magazine telecom brand. Provided that he doesn’t simulate sex with a minor on camera. Or a rapper can be just like Jay-Z and score the majority of their points off merchandising and marketing. If you didn’t choose Jay-Z for your roster you might as well kill yourself.

Jay is one of the handful of cRappers that we consider ‘blue chip prospects’ in this league. He will always get you points every quarter because he has his hands on so many business ventures. Fisty Scent is another blue chip prospect as well as Kanghey and Lil’ Wang. The key to winning at the cRap Music Fantasy League is picking the unknown cRappers that rise to prominence. Let’s take a look at the scoring leaders right now for the cMFL…

Pretty Dollar Entertainment 800
Diamond Ballers Records 750
Yes Baby Yes Entertainment 700
11206 Records 650
20/20 Proof Records 575
Rainmen Records 550
America Done Fell Off Records 550
Bamboozled Records 550
Game One Records 550
Harleyworld Music 550
Quarter Water Juice Records 550
Gain Green Records 550
Sheem-Deem Entertainment 550
Renegade Records 550
Grand Theft Audio Records 550
Blue & Creme Entertainment 550
BlackStar Records 550
Smart-Dumb Rappers Records 550

Jay-Z put 450 points in the hands of his label owners on the strength of his foreword in the new MICHAEL ERIC DYSON book and for his web-based marketing deal for the 40/40 Club.

Plies had a 250 pt marketing deal with Sprint for the download of his new single.

NaS gave 200 pts to his label for the afterword in the DYSON book.

T.I. released his latest studio album ‘T.I. vs. TIP’ and netted 100 pts for his labels.

KELLY ROWLAND took some time away from brushing BeYONCE’s wig to bag up 25 points for the July/August cover of King magazine.

I thought I’d also take a moment to highlight a few of the labels in this quarter’s cMFL. Diversity is the key to our movement and we have labels from all over the globe digging on this cRap music. I would be remiss though if I didn’t shout out the programmer for Q3’s brilliant scorecard – El Gringo Colombiano. Go check out his website.

veteran America Done Fell Off Records
50 Cent
Common

Jay-Z
Kanye West

Note: This roster is chock full of blue chippers, but the acquisition of M.I.A. could be the international unknown that puts this label over the top.

secada Likwid Tangz Music
Akon
Cam’ron
Kanye West
Lil Kim
Lil Wayne
Papoose
Saigon
The Game

Note: JOHN SECADA, The vocal coach for this label, is going to have to muster up a classic to get this team off the 0 point schneid.

raygun Dead Presidents Records
50 Cent
Cam’ron
Eve
Kanye West
Lil Wayne
Saigon
TI
Usher

Note: This roster seems like a powerhouse on paper but I think that Saigon and Cam’ron are better picks for Q4.

ti

A monster shout goes out to El Gringo Colombiano for blessing DP Dot Com with his computer wizardry for the cRap Music Fantasy League. This shit is going down so icy cold for this quarter. We will drop bi-weekly updates on the CMFL as well features on some of the label owners who sport websites themselves and we will even highlight some of the label owners who just patrol the internets searching for that good-good Hip-Hop.

  • If you don’t see your label’s name then that means you didn’t make the cut for this round. A lot of you went over the allowed limit of rappers because you didn’t follow the submission rules that stated only (8) artists per roster (i.e. The Roots, Wu-Tang, UGK and Shop Boyz are all GROUPS of artists and not a single artist). Some of you didn’t respond to the confirmation e-mail in time and some of you weren’t even sure just what the hell was going on.

To all of you folks that didn’t make it in this round I ask you to stay locked in on the DP Dot Com cRap Music Fantasy League drops so that you don’t miss the Q4 registration period.

For all of you labels that did make the cut some of you have jumped out to an early lead if you have T.I. and KELLY ROWLAND on your rosters. T.I. scored 100pts with the release of his studio album ‘T.I. vs. TIP’ and BeYONCE’s loyal wig brusher racked up a nice little 25pts for her cover story on King Magazine. But don’t be dismayed, there is still a lot of cRap Music Fantasy League to be played. Another update drops this weekend.

Shouts also go out to loyal DP Dot Com supporter LM for sponsoring the prize pack.

In a few days we will kick off another round of the infamous DP Dot Com cRap Music Fantasy League. This game gives all of us regular rap fans the chance to make moves like music industry moguls for a few months. The rules are really simple and the registration is free so why wouldn’t you play? What? You don’t really listen to a lot of the new rap music on the radio so you don’t know who the players are? That doesn’t matter. Play anyway. The winner gets a pair of choice select NIKE Dunks. Take a peek at the joints that the Q1 winner got in the mail.
