Get Ready For Combat…

Friday, January 13th, 2012

The Combat Jack Show with special guest Touré was one of those rare glimpses people will see which has a REAL discussion on race in America and the repercussions created by honoring this made-up social construct. Touré came to discuss the meaning of his book titled ‘Who’s Afraid Of Post-Blackness‘. What is Blackness? What is the value of white priivilege? Why is Combat Jack (and conversely Touré) an Uncle Tom? Why is Premium Pete a racist?

My favorite part of the show is when Touré ethers me on Boston Celtics history about that franchise having the ‘Jackie Robinson’ of basketball. Chuck Cooper was one of the first few African-Americans drafted into the NBA in 1950, but Earl Lloyd of the Washington Capitals was the first to play in the NBA. Still, his remarks held a piece of truth and that is all you need when you want to be a race trader. Touré knows this from a lifetime in defending all of his values against his Blackness.

As you will hear, the discussion was lively and filled with moments of clarity and humor. I salute Touré for having the courage to even enter the arena. You gotta be ready for combat if you are gonna be a guest on the Combat Jack Show.

The Lakers Of The Politricks Game…

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

Politricks are a game much like any of the professional sporting contests we watch. Politricks are certainly just as fixed as pro sports are. Consider the supreme court judges as the refs. Them dudes are supposed to be impartial, but everyone still has a boss they have to obey. Dollar, dollar bill y’all.

Kobe and Obama are both reviled mostly due to the nostalgia which dominates most American mindsets. Everyone thinks the shit that happened yesteryear was way better than anything happening today. Also, this is still America and we are unapologetically racist at our core. Its. What. We. Do.

Rahm Emanuel left the Obama cabinet to do his own thing and I thought of a corollary to the recently departed Phil Jackson from the Lakers’ camp. Can Kobe Bryant get back to the promised land without his guru? Will Obama make it back to the White House without Rahm cleaning up his messes?

The competition in the NBA right now seems a lot more formidable than the comp being posted by the Republican party, but I wouldn’t downplay the possibility of some Manchurian October surprise. This is just entertainment after all and I’m part of the rapt audience.

To Be Young, Gifted And White…

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

I was gonna go on a rant about this article some white wrote for Forbes magazine (not the DVD series, LOL) but then after spending a day discussing this shit on TWitter I feel like I’m all talked out now.

I get it. The author wants poor people to rise above their exploitation. The author doesn’t get it that when the chips are stacked you can’t beat the game. Blah, blah, blah. At this point in my life I really don’t care if people acknowledge their privilege and how said privilege undermines the rights of others. See, once someone acknowledges this they must then act to restore the balance instead of perpetuating the status quo and honestly, after centuries of advantage and privilege what white in his right mind wants to give all that up?

You don’t give up a head start in a race because you believe in equality. You take the head start and you don’t look back. You shrug your shoulders and declare that it wasn’t you who made the rules. You install some complicit cowardism into your steez. I mean, you don’t want to be known as the white who gave away white privilege do you? Of course not. Your parents weren’t that courageous or upstanding (no offense to talking about your moms) and neither are you. Let things keep riding the way they always have. The poor will figure a way out.

They’ll use the internets.

ZUCOTTI LOCKOUT…

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

While my computer’s been down this past week I haven’t been able to post any info from the frontlines of AmeriKKKa’s class war that is the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Protestors sleeping in Zucotti Park were raided by police and were arrested for trespassing and other related offenses like the crime of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Now that this pandora’s box of protests has been flung wide open I wonder if we can ever go back to being a country that trampled people over flat screen TV’s? Wait!? The new iPhone is being released with an app that talks to you? My bad. Carry on capitalism.

Caught Between A Rock And A Wall Street…

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Everyone’s comparing Occupy Wall Street to the protests in Egypt without understanding that the rich and wealthy in Egypt wanted a regime change so they posited the poor and disenfranchised directly at Mubarak. The rich and wealthy in America DON’T want a regime change over here. They want to keep the status quo popping off in their advantage.

The fact that Americans couldn’t see far enough to fight for their healthcare rights means they definitely won’t grasp that their quality of life has been undermined by our corporate overlords. They’ll continue to find these protestors anti-American or at best a nuisance. In the meantime and in between time someone better take a look at the social security fund.

What’s gonna happen when the police get their pensions pushed back? By then private security firms and ‘contractors’ will be on the job just like they made all the executive decisions in Iraq.

Smarten up NaS.
